New York has been on a tear as of late. Should they hold onto this big lead, they would jump to 11 games over the .500 mark. They are getting a lot of production top to bottom, being led by Judge who homered again on Tuesday night.
Schmidt gets the ball for New York and while he typically works 5.0 innings at the most, he's still giving them chances to win every time he takes the mound.
Kirby counters, with a 3.43 ERA over 10 starts this season. He is just 1-2 over his last 3 starts, with an ERA of well over 5.
Some trends to note. Yankees are 4-0 in their last 4 vs. American League West. Yankees are 5-0 in their last 5 road games vs. a right-handed starter. Yankees are 5-0 in their last 5 road games.

That assessment is extremely generous towards Clarke Schmidt. Schmidt has stunk this season, BUT he’s been serviceable in 3 of his last 4 starts. The one that went badly was at the hands and bats of the Rays. I expect Schmidt will hold down the Mariners tonight, allowing just a run or two over his expected 5 innings.

24-year old George Kirby got rocked by the Pirates last Friday night, allowing 7 runs on 9 hits, 4 of which landed over the wall. But prior to that he was working on a string of eight quality starts. I expect him to return to form tonight because Kirby is the kind of pitcher who will WANT THE BALL against a team as hot as the Yankees who’ve embarrassed his teammates the last two nights in front of the home crowd. I actually think he’s gonna shut the Yanks down.

I believe the Yanks sweep and over. Baseball is a weird sport, when bats are hot they stay hot, and it is much easier riding the trend than breaking it.

I spent a fair bit of time capping this game today. I came to the conclusion that these lines are right where they should be and in my estimation, there's just not much value anywhere. If I was forced to make a play, I'd pick the under, but not very confidently. I decided to pass. GL to all who make a play on this match-up.
God is great, beer is good, and people are crazy.

I’m on the Mariners -130 BUT……I got that price at the odious William Hill. Therefore, the Mariners won’t win. I’m also on under 7.5 -105 for an equal amount.

Clarke Schmidt was even better than I expected. That was easily his best performance of 2023.
I’ll just go ahead and make the prediction that the Yankees will win this game 1-0 or 2-0 after Kirby departs. It’s a William Hill thing. Heads they win, tails I lose.

Isiah Kiner-Falefa gave the ball a ride in the top of the 7th. Best hit ball of the night by the Yankees, but the fleet-footed Julio Rodriguez gloved it just in front of the wall while on the run.

Eugenio Suarez led off the bottom of the 7th with a double off the right field wall but what followed was a feeble effort by the next three batters to bring him home. Game is still scoreless through seven.
Last inning for Kirby comin’ up.

Maybe TreyInventor will get his Yankees team total over 3.5 in the 10th. The Yankees will be ready to tee off on anyone that doesn’t look like George Kirby.
