Clear as day Butera was safe. What’s interesting is that Baez knew it right away as did Murphy. Regardjess of the outcome tonite, I really hope MLB disassembles this crew going forward. They are very bad. I can’t say it enough.

That’s Theos guy......Jason Heyward. You’ll never hear Theo take any heat for that sign though......How Maddon goes to him in that spot, it’s beyond me. But that’s Maddon for ya. Gimme Schwarber any day over Heyward. I could care less if Heyward has a “bounce back” year.....he stinks in my book. Rockies need to score a run here and I think we see it.
Theo's always had the knack of going criticism free, guess it helps when you're always employed by teams with open checkbooks.
As a cubs fan I totally agree.. I have cringed at his free agent buys and the two "big trades" - much more so the second
Lester - a fine purchase but Scherzer would have been far better heyward - a $25Mish per season liability at the plate Chatwood - pitching in triple A Morrow - injured Dharvish - pitched below replacement and then shelved for the season Much more damning is mortgaging our future as Torres and Eloy are better than anything we have in our lineup and Cease is looking like a top of the rotation starter.... I guess I understand the Chapman trade but there were cheaper shutdown closer options - as in you give up just Mckinney and another mid-level prospect for someone like wade Miller But the Quinana trade boggles the mind - was always a number 3 at best on a good team... and you gave away a potential generational bar and potential top of rotation stud... I mean chris sale cost the red sox less than what the cubs paid of quintana - mocada was overrated with his bust % very very high, insiders knew it
Of course Theo has done a lot of good including bringing us a ring. But I see a team that cannot hit at all in the playoffs against big pitchers (remember dodgers series), trades that mortgaged our future, and free agent acquisitions that have failed time and again...

Ottavino still in the game for some unknown reason (see: Bud Black) gives up the free 90 feet and then immediately pays for it as expected. Baez should've been immediately walked after the steal and Ottavino lifted.
But nope, Bud Black simply isn't very bright and it finally caught up to him.

If the Rockies get out of this inning only giving up one run, the Rockies score in the 9th. Gotta get out of this inning first. The Rockies have tried all game to let the cubs back in so no idea if they can get through this last out here in the 8th.

Bud Black has always been a terrible manager. If he was willing to bring in Davis with 2 outs in the 8th in a tie score, why wasn't he willing to do the same with 2 outs in the 8th when his team was still clinging to a lead?
