3-8.. missed a 5 team parlay today cause of Toronto.
Pick for 5/11 - Mets (DeGrom) 2.30
Just stumbled across this thread and read through the two pages...saw this post and thought "wasn't the point of this to do 'one play a day'?" So...why the parlay? You've got to BE disciplined if you want to STAY disciplined..or..it's OKAY to spread things out as well.
You just have to sit down, look at your bankroll and stick to a plan of how you are playing things. Instead of trying to find ONE -1.5 to play, finding a healthy combo of MLs, +2.5s and modified Totals can work too. "Discipline" is more than holding yourself to "one play a day"...it's about making a plan and sticking to it.
A plan could be a single play a day, sure, but then stick to that and that alone. A plan could also be to take 4 plays. For example, you can take one fav ML, one underdog on a +2.5 and one Total...weigh them all 1-4 (4 being strongest) and bet them all individually by weight. If you notice, 1-2-3-4 adds up to 10--so you can easily setup a nice way to budget things (take your daily budget and divide by 10 to know your Unit amount---and, unlike "traditional Unit plays", this Unit is how much you are putting down, not what you anticipate to collect--on a -200 odds selection on a 4 Unit play, you will be betting 4 Units to win 2 Units). You can also decide to sub out the 4th selection and use the 1 Unit slot as the portion of the budget to parlay 3 selections in modified form (if you play offshore, you can turn an Over 7.5 @ +105 into an Over 6 @ -190, for example) or just parlay the 2 stronger selections as-is.
This isn't necessarily what I do when I make plays, but it is a decent foundation to a "healthy" approach at making plays. Doing something like this and using your Covers Contest playbook as a "journal" can give anyone a decent way to make plays without feeling like they are overwhelmed with a zillion plays or relying on a single play to "come through". You will also see that, sometimes, your middle plays break you even and/or yield a profit you for the day after your level 4 and level 1 plays fall through.
There will be good plays and not so good plays. There will be up days and down days. Making smart plays will keep the former coming more than the latter, which, in turn, will keep you on the + side of things overall. This is my first post on here, so just wanted to make it more meaningful than "Hello, World!" I also don't mean to hijack your thread either...but, after getting to 4-12 for the month so far and starting to go back to the parlays you seemed to be walking away from initially, maybe you might be open for some input. GL to ya.

Welcome to the site klub! Hopefully this thread will make you some money whether you tail or fade and thanks for your input... pretty insightful. I actually tend to hit more parlays than my play of the day. (i usually do a single bet with my POD and then another parlay that doesnt have my 1gameaday in it, 20 dollars each bet) and as you can see, this month hasnt been too kind to my pick of the day. but i try to go for the higher paying games i think will win (170+ games) kershaw and hernandez were both going at +1.50 and they are both losing today, it's a little more risky but overall it will pay out more..
