If you played the ML -180, they just need to win. If you play the alternative run line of -1 they have to win by more than one run. If the rays win by one run, it’s a push and you just get your money back

This is hardly a sucker bet..........it is just a way to mitigate risk.
If the Rays lose, they lose, and you either lose -180 or -134.
If you go by just this season for the Rays........of all 61 of the Rays wins.....only 13 have been by a single run, or 21%
If you look at baseball as a whole........roughly 30% of games end in a 1 run differential.
So if you think the Rays win this game.......there is nothing wrong at all with taking a -1 alt line and paying less juice. If it pushes it pushes, no harm no foul.
No offense to "The President"......but this is not even in the same solar system as a teaser, parlay, or "sucker bet"

if you were betting big monies like a MrBator, then you should bet an amount on the -1.5 runline. then an amount to win that amount on the money line. that's the same as the -1 runline by making 2 separate bets and you get a slightly better price. But for smaller bettors it probably ain't worth the mental effort

I haven't bet MLB, or any sport for that matter in about 11-12 years. With MLB, NEVER bet the run line. Only ML. Run Line is a Nonsense suckers bet.
Also, just my 2c, I used to normally ALWAYS bet against a Team Ace. Sounds stupid, right? Guys get 30 starts a year and wins 15-17 games. You're gonna bat approx 50% with great odds. Granted, if ATL Ace was at home vs KC, most likely KC NOT gonna win that. Use discretion obviously.
Good Luck
