Volquez is a good pitcher guys. His only problem this year has been his control, and he is throwing strikes today, so expect a pitcher's duel.

Great job Rays.  I know it's early afternoon and you don't feel like working, but lets at least try to show up.  You're making a 5+ ERA pitcher look like James Shields having his career year on roids.

Volquez is hard to hit when he is on.

Right, but when is that?  The guys career ERA is over 4.50.  He's rarely on.  The Tampa bats are just off.

I think you are missing the point. His ERA is too high because he has always had control problems. But if you looked at games where he walks less than 2, he rarely gives up much.

Better start hoping he has control issues, because otherwise, Reds should take this one now with the 3 run HR out of nowhere from Hannigan.

My point is, that those good starts and bad starts are few and far between.  If you are having 2 good starts out of 10, then I am expecting to be on the 80% side of the coin.

I'm not on the Rays.  I'm on the over 7.  Volquez will give up his 3 runs.  Just a matter of time.

I'm on the under 4 through 5. That fluke HR from Hannigan puts it into jeopardy. But I agree. Volquez is inconsistent. But don't trash the Rays for not hitting him, because his stuff is pretty nasty when he is on, which he is right now because I have it on the tube. He is borderline unhittable when that sinker is in the zone.

Shields gets lit up.. Votto Rolen and Bruce are too good..

Volquez has given up 2 or less walks 4 times out of 15 starts.  13 earned runs in those 4 starts.  Not really understanding your logic.

Would look back to last year. My brother is a Reds fan, I get to hear about him all of the time.

Volquez has nasty no-hit stuff today. Us Rays backers are in major trouble. Not to mention this rays lineup is pretty shitty.

see 2008... he was hurt the last two years and pitched just over 100 inn combined in that span...
