The Red Sox started the Winter Meetings with a splash and they won't leave before making another blockbuster addition. Boston has agreed to a seven-year, $142MM deal with Carl Crawford, according to Peter Abraham of the Boston Globe (on Twitter). Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports confirms the agreement (on Twitter).

I think it's safe to say that the Red Sox finally "stuck it" to the Yankees this offseason.

Scutaro

Does Ellsbury become the "2nd leadoff hitter" in the 9 spot or is the the real leadoff hitter while Crawford goes to the 2 hole? Does Crawford lead off? AGon, Ortiz AND Crawford, all lefties, can't stack them up right? Where does Pedroia hit? Do you move Crawford down in the lineup more for more RBI chances?

so much for the argument that A Gonz coming would only negate Martinez leaving. Two bona fide stud offensive players. Pretty impressive...

i read that ellsbury might be the "player to be named" in the a-gon trade. making it possible for cameron to start CF or red soxs to sign carlos beltran

When they say player to be named, it usually means some scrub/random minor league player.  Not someone like ellsbury

Yea...AGon + Crawford > Beltre + VMart...just by a little bit though.

Disagree. Salary cap sucks. If you make money spend it. Im a bills fan in football and they wont spend any money therefore dont deserve to win. I wish the nfl would have no salary cap. You would actually have dominant teams. Not the mediocrity we have now

Well...you want to make sure the protection is in the right place too. Who protects who? I think it would be smarter for Papi to be protected instead of being the protection. But that's just me.

No way that Pedroia is batting 6th in that lineup, probably 2nd..... Ellsbury will get moved down to the 9 hole I am sure unless he is going to be in some type of trade.... I cant see him getting traded though especially coming off injury.

Damn it feels good to be a Red Sox fan..... Crawford and A Gon... Along with getting a healthy Pedroia and Ellsbury back... I am ready for baseball season now.
