Bravo Sierra...you are mistaken.

Rule 3:16 states clearly:
No interference shall be allowed when a fielder reaches over a fence, railing, rope or into a stand to catch a ball. He does so at his own risk.
Was the fielder's glove in the field of play or was it over the wall? If you answer it was in the field of play go see an optometrist right away.

I don't think they intentionally hit hit glove. They were going for the ball and Bett's glove actually ran into them and closed. I think he would have caught it if they didnt touch him.
Watch the ball come down...after the deal is done...it stops momentum and comes straight down, maybe a couple inches back towards the field....where does it land??? In the field of play....it fell back onto the track...tells me he wasnt in the stands.

You cant tell if he was over rhe wall or not...thats the problem...it certainly isn't as clear cut as you think.
Look at the replay where uou can read "Betts" on his back. His body is short of the wall and he reaches and pulls back....its super close...

He is clearly reaching into the stands (his glove is in the stands...where are the fans standing but in the stands)...end of story...either we have a rule or we don't. Today, we don't have a rule according to the umps. So be it...

I just don’t understand what the fan is suppose to do there. You have a 100 mph ball coming at you. Are you suppose to cover up in a ball? Cowboy joe guessed and ny was too scared to overrule him

I missed this live but just watched the replay on ESPN several times. In my mind there is 0% doubt that the ball was in the stands. The fans were moving to catch the ball. It could be argued that the fan in the orange shirt was attempting to prevent the catch by making contact with the glove. However, this clearly occurred in the stands.
Regardless of the sport, it amazes me how many calls are missed even with replay. It's comical.

That IS a good point. You just let it thump you I guess?
I think they should replay it without the fans in that area. and THEN see if Mookie can catch it.
