i have a 5 teamer and the 1st 4 hit, leaving me with the yankees ml later this afternoon.
its small, 15 bucks to win a little over 418 bucks, i also have a $25 bet already on yankees, so my question is..... SHOULD I HEDGE??
thanks for the input, and thanks always for your picks!
I would definitely hedge since your bets are small ($40) relative to what you could win (approx $445). You could hedge a couple ways. If you still like the Yanks a lot, bet, for example, $200 to win $170 on Boston (-118). If Boston wins you win $130 ($170-$40). If the Yanks win, you win $245 ($445-$200).
Or if you want a close-to-perfect hedge, the amount to bet on Boston would be around $260. If Boston wins, you win $180 ($220-$40). If the Yankees win, you win $185 ($445-$260).
Remember, you will never go broke with a guaranteed winning bet, which is what you are potentially sitting on.
Please let us know what you do and GL!!!

You should not have included NYY in your parlay when you are so scared as to hedge it and pay the juice.
im not scared, i already thought the parlay was dead cuz i had the over in the celtics/bulls game and now that 4 have hit i dont want it to go in the drain with a loss in the last game... im confident in the pick but with what everyone has been telling me, hedging is probably the RIGHT play, no need to gamble when i can get guarenteed money... plus it only cost me 15 bucks for the parlay and i had/have straight bets with all the legs in the parlay so im up 4 units already and a chance to add to my winnings.... parlays are for fun and they are long shots, most will lose i just got lucky for hitting the first 4.....

I understand, but when you played the $15 parlay you knew that the last leg would be played AFTER the first 4 legs. Now you hedge and the result is that you have a winning 4-team parlay and pay some juice. It would have been better and cheaper to play the 4-team parlay from the start.

c'mon bud, you can only say that with hindsight.... i had a 10 team parlay the other day and hit 9 and lost 1 but the 1 i lost was an early afternoon play, according to you i should left that 1 team out so i can hit the 9 teamer? NO ONE KNOWS THE OUTCOME OF THE GAME FOR SURE, thats why they play the game... i have situation here now where i can win no matter what...i dont think it was a bad bet at all....

Please read my last post again.
You know the result of the first 4 legs BEFORE the last leg.
It's another matter when all legs are played at the same time.
