The state of hitting in the MLB

In the last 7 days only 2 teams have an OPS above .800, 21 teams are .700 or worse. BA = .226, only 4 teams are hitting better than .250, 15 teams are under .225

these teams are not playing the Jays bullpen...

Yankees had 5 guys batting under .200 in their lineup last week 

Sea avg is like 208

Happens every night all over the league. That’s the current state of the game. Gets progressively worse every year.....Don’t understand why you guys continue to throw money on this $hit

the nerds got their way and this isn’t watchable.  Somethings got to give 

184 in 6735 plate appearances.

That's 1 for every 37 times someone steps up to the plate.

Considering that there are 27 outs in a game, a team needs to accumulate 10 hits and walks combined to have a true chance at going yard in a ball game. In a sense.

There's always a way to win $ on the sport. It ain't easy, it never was, same ole grind.

Who needs to hit when these pitchers will just walk ya if u have any semblance of plate discipline lol.

 It's called spin rate.. spin rate goes up every year.. most spin rate means more swing and miss.. less contact.. Yada Yada.. pitchers are smart they manipulate things.. like schildt said many pitchers use foreign substances.. that with the minors on up teaching kids to not hit... but hit home runs and launch angle means exactly what you think it means

Pitchers have been spinning the ball since baseball began. 

Pitchers have been using foreign substance/cheating for a long time. It's nothing new. Batters have also corked bats, stole signs, whatever. Baseball players have toed the line of cheating for ages.

In general, good pitching has always beaten good hitting in baseball. Hitting a round ball with a round stick is the most difficult one thing to do in any sport. 

The hitters never had it easy to begin with.

But currently at this time, they are WAY behind. They can't hit passed a shift, can't bunt, can't protect the plate, can't manufacture runs, can't work a count, etc...

All the small things have been neglected. The analytical principles that have been instilled into the hitters have ran their course. They need to re adjust.

Just like in football, the option had it's day, the run n shoot, the zone read. New schemes take the league by storm but the defenses figure it out fairly quickly, and you either go back to the staples or figure out something else.

Baseball, from a hitting aspect, seems to be stuck in the mud for now.

Only my thoughts, maybe I'm wrong.

It's just the last thing I want to hear is excuses for these guys. Choke up on the bat, dig your cleats in the dirt, and make something happen.

Sac, that last post, Post #17, is quite possibly the best one I’ve read on here all year.

So....

Pitchers can't use stick em anymore. Hitters still can't hit em(for the most part).

What's next?

You can for sure make money but as a fan, the game sucks.

 Sac, you know what’s next. Banning shifts and moving the rubber back. How embarrassing....The talent is just not there anymore. That and the analytic BS have ruined this sport. How, in God’s name, does anyone accept 2 or 3 guys in STARTING lineups with sub .200 batting averages? This sport is in a world of trouble.

I hat the shifts to be honest 

thats what happens when the league goes back to using baseballs that aren't juiced

 If you wear a major league uniform, you should be capable of hitting the ball to all fields. You obviously don’t know much about baseball.
