Thought I was going to have a decent night at one point during the night only to have my hopes crushed when Robin Ventura decides to take out Chris Sale with a man on 3rd and 2 outs and a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the 8th and end up losing it in the 9th 5-4! Then the Yankees allow 3 unearned runs in the 1st vs. CLEV….and it was time to start to worry….. but ended up 4-6 and -1 unit. Today, we have 12 games on the docket both day (4) and night (8) games…
YTD = 426 - 340 - 6 (+202 units)
3* = High Confidence - 101 - 56
2* = Recommended - 205 - 179 - 4
1* = Suggested - 120 - 105 - 2
Yesterday 4 - 6 (-1 unit) (though minus 1 unit total final tally the day +50+because of 3*RL)
3* = 2 - 0
2* = 0 - 3
1* = 2 - 3
My write-ups were short yesterday, just who I liked and the pitching match-ups….so today I’ll try to put in a comment or two, but try to keep it short…. Let’s get to it….
2* Reds w/Homer Bailey (8-5, 4.15) …..Reds have won 5 straight, 4 in this series vs the Cubs who is pitching a rookie making his 1st career start. Bailey lost a tough game his last out vs the Brewers 1-0, giving up an ER on 7 hits in 8 inns. And he had a pretty good June (3-1, 3.35) and he’s 1-1 vs. the Cubs both in Chicago allowing 4 ERs on 10 hits in 11.1 inns. This may be down-graded to a 1* based condition of Billy Hamilton and Brandon Phillips who may both be out of the line-up due to injuries…
1* White Sox/Red Sox under 8 runs…..
2* A’s/Giants under 7 runs…..
1* Phillies/Brewers over 8.5 runs…..
3* Dodgers w/Clayton Kershaw (10-2, 1.85)…Kershaw is one of the hottest pitchers in the NL and majors, currently with a consecutive shutout streak of 36 inns over 4 ½ games. He’s now won 7 straight starts, allowing just 4 ERs in 52 inns (incl a no-hitter) for a 0.69 ERA. The Padres starter Odrisamer Despaigne (2-0, 0.92) should make this a good match-up, though the Padres lost his last start after he gave up only 1 ER on 2 hits and 4 walks in 6 inns. The Dodgers lost their last 2 @ DET and are 22-23 @home, the Padres have also lost their last 2 and are only 16-26 on the road.
1* Tigers/Royals over 8.5 runs…..
2* Yankees w/David Phelps (3-4, 4.01)…Phelps has pitched pretty good in 4 of his last 5, including his last start where he received a ND, allowing 1 ER on 3 hits in 7 inns @MINN. In the aforementioned 4 games he was 2-0, allowed only 5 ERs on 15 hits (4HRs) in 26.1 inns (1.72 ERA), he allowed 6ERs in 5 inns which then makes his ERA in his last 5 starts to 3.18. Indians starts lefty TJ House (1-2, 4.24) has pitched pretty well in 5 of his last 6 starts, going 1-1, allowing 9 ERs on 33 hits in 30 inns for a 2.70 ERA and the Indians were 3-2 in those starts. In his last start, he beat KC, allowing 3 ERs on 9 hits in 6.2inns. The Yankees are better on the road (28-21) than at home, the Indians are 26-18 @home…the Yanks are 14-14 vs. lefties, but 9-5 on the road against them.
That’s it for the day, not many games because a few are very hard to read, others you have to try and pick the lesser of 2 evils….Good Luck to all!
