Leans- Dodgers and Cards, Cards TT over (square plays i know)
Both teams have somewhat limped into the barn down the stretch here, with both offenses being somewhat inconsistent. On the surface, this game has all the makings of a low scoring game so I'll take the better pitcher here. As good as Medlen has been lately(2.38 post ASB), Kershaw has been outstanding all season and will win the Cy young with a 1.85 ERA. Dodgers have slightly better numbers vs RHP, braves slightly worse vs LHP. Braves have been terrific at home this season, but in my opinion are a flawed team that strike out too often and rely too much on the long ball. On paper, this appears to be the perfect matchup for kershaw who was 3rd in MLB in strikeouts and allowed only 11 HRs all season. As good as the braves bullpen has been, I like my chances having JP howell, brian wilson and kenley janson shutting the door on the braves if the game is close late.
On a side note, i think it's a huge mistake to leave Uggla off the roster(as bad as he's been) but what do I know
Cards come in winners of their last 6 sporting a great 54-27 record at home(13-2 in sept) and have been an amazing clutch hitting team this season. Waino has pitched well vs the pirates this season(3.00 era), and has been almost 1 run better at home vs on the road. After "struggling" a tad in august, Waino has come back into form with a 2.85 era in September including 7 scoreless innings his last start vs the buccos. Burnett on the other hand has struggled a bit lately w/ a 4.35 era in September... including get lit up by the cards in his most recent start vs them. He also hasn't been nearly as good on the road(almost 2 runs worse) than he's been home. Cards bullpen is a bit of a question mark with the youngster Rosenthal most likely closing games, so hopefully Waino will go deep into the game here. While I certainly expect this series to go 6 games, and may take the pirates in game 2, I like the cards to win game 1

cannot lay 140 on the road, even if it is kershaw. that game is a no play for me. like the cards in the early game, ml dropped from -158 to -145. locked it in.
