V-Mart will have surgery Tuesday with Dr.James Andrews to repair the Meniscus. 2nd time in the last few years V-Mart hurt himself in offseason workouts. the Tigers could start the year without Cabrera and V-Mart. BUT HAVE NO FEAR according to Brad Ausmus Avila and Andrew Romine will get work at 1B
Dave Dombrowski said a week or 2 ago that he was tired of hearing that the Tigers window is closing. Me too Dave because as i said before the window is SHUT. And this was before V-Mart got hurt and Scherzer left
Cabrera is declining,Sanchez can't stay healthy, Verlander is more interested in Kate Upton than pitching and lets be honest... Verlander stopped pitching hard the minute he got his money
The White Sox and Royals are better right now and i hate to say this but i think the Cleveland Racists win the Central this year. The Tigers are an 81-86 win team at best

It's obviously not as bright in TigerTown but nor is it as bleak as you would like to make it. To say the window is shut and no hope is simply not true. How many times over the last 10 years has the World Series winner been a team that just got on the dance floor? On paper this team isn't as good with questions abound, but shut window and hopeless is the Phillies and Rockies.
To say Cabrera is in a definite decline is a bit premature. If his body continues to break down then they are in deep trouble but theat core surgey he had takes along time to recover from. You could see the power starting to return in the 2nd half if last year and that was with a bad foot and lower body. They are going to need to DH a little more to help preserve him and that will require Victor to play a little more first base and his legs are not the greatest either. I am not too concerned with the meniscus tear, these things happen to athletes and he should bounce back. I would guess he is back on the field by the end of April and back at full stride by June.
Anibal is good for around 30 starts every year with a rest period somewhere in the season for the shoulder that has basically been been needed since he injured it in Florida as a young pitcher. The injury he suffered last year is the first one I recall not related to his once a season needed short shutdown. I expect a solid return to his usual form.
Verlander I have less hope for but lets look at just raw stiff. His diminished fastball had comeback to life some the 2nd half of last year and was 91-94 from the 89-92 it was early in the year. Plenty of guys have done just fine with that kind of velocity. What he needs to rediscover is that filthy 12-6 curve he used to feature and perhaps develop a cutter. This is a big year for him and The Tigers absolute need him to be at least a legit 2-3 starter for them to have a realistic hope.
I have the White Sox at the top of the food chain right now with the Tigers 2nd. Minus Shields and the look of the offense once again for the Royals I think they take a step back. As awesome as their pen looks once again you have to have enough leads for them to protect. Cleveland I have 4th but if the pieces fall together and everyone in their rotation pitches to potential they will be better than that, but I am going to say that's not going to happen and I still don't care for their offense overall or their bullpen.
As far as Avila/Romine at first that makes me want cry. I would rather they give Mike Hessman the at bats. For those who don't know who he is, he is Crash Davis. He is going for the all time minor league home run record this season. I could see the The Tigers anywhere from 1st to 4th, from low 90's in wins to low 70's in wins depending how all the questions shake out and none of it would surprise me.

Martinez is getting old at the same rate as the rest of us, one day at a time. He is going to be ready sometime in April and perhaps for Opening Day as stated by the Tigers.
He is coming of is best season ever. The question with him will be if the power was an abberation or are more home runs the new normal for him. I certainly dont expect him to repeat last year but as long as he continues to treat each at bat like a war and gives a line at his career averages, which certainly seems reasonable, the Tigers will be happy and the line up will compete every single day.
