If they sucked last year do they get a clean slate this year?
Sorry I meant to say the pitchers must be currently playing on the roster. And no they dont get a clean slate you sucked last year and more than likely they are going to suck again. Until they prove other wise like winning games this year. This is the big leagues and theirs always someone ready from the minors to take your spot. Too many people stress to much on betting on hot winning streak pitchers instead of just betting against horrible pitchers that play against average pitchers. I would much rather bet when a average pitcher plays a horrible pitcher.

This is the year to fade Colon. It's gotta be. Seriously, I have no idea how he keeps doing it year after year at his age and with that frame. Someone here on covers predicted Colon would be the first pitcher to ever have a pizza delivered to the mound.

Colon's 16 wins are nice, but his quality start record of 22-10 means he put the Mets in a position to win 68.8% of the time, whether they did or not. That is not exactly washed up.
Now and then even a BLIND squirrel can find an acorn

The problem with riding or fading is similar. If you ride a hot hand the price is too high and you need a lot of wins, but if you fade the obviously bad pitcher they don't lose often enough even at laying -130 or -140 against them. Baseball is an "on any given day" sport and you have to roll with whatever advantage you see today. Riding or fading is just another way of looking for a system, and systems don't win or the books would have been broke long ago. jmho

Then I'm mistaken. I didn't gamble any last year, but I remember Colon, along with Sabathia, being a couple of big fade machines a couple of years ago. Never could trust him on the mound with (my) money on the line. Of course, that might've spoke more to my situational capping.

Yeah he's a reliever but he's washed up. Can't believe we still have this gas can. He blew so many leads last year and I don't see it changing anytime soon.
Don’t let the last play affect the next play

The Rockies #4 and #5 starters. Remember, their starting rotation was set until two weeks ago, when Chad Bettis suddenly got rediagnosed with cancer and decided to skip the season. I hope he recovers, eff cancer.
I'd also fade the Angels' Ricky Nolasco and Jesse Chavez. Jered Weaver was a tire fire this spring. Adam Conley and Chen from the Marlins are weak. Chen had a chance to be their #1 or #2, and he pooed the bed.
Carlos Rodon of the White Sox is hurt, so when he returns he may be off. James Shields also gets onto streaks where he gives up tons of homers. The White Sox may not score much this season.
Jimmy Nelson has almost fallen out of the rotation in Milwaukee. Three years ago, they had high hopes for him. Now they'd trade him for sunflower seeds.
I disagree with a prior poster's mention of Matt Moore, he can go on a tear at times. And he pitches in a pitchers park.
Beware fading the Pirates. They have one of the best pitching coaches in the league in Ray Searage. He's famous for revitalizing pitchers' careers. Ivan Nova is his project this year, and I think Nova will do well.
The Twins called up their star Jose Berrios midseason last year, hoping he'd break out. He didn't. He got shelled. He's starting out this year in the minors. Look for him to be a midseason call up. They have so much invested in him, they have to give him another chance. But yeah, his performance was grossly disappointing in 2016.

Begin the the lousy teams and their Fifth Starters... Foltynewicz
Unfortunately he will be the 2nd starter. I like to play 1st 5 Innings Over with the gas cans. Low juice and you can get help if the other pitcher gives up runs. This usually works good until July and the books adjust or the gas can is not allowed to pitch anymore
