98% of the people that bet lose myself included even though they will tell you they win I’ve got a friend is a bookie he has 50 players everyone of them lost for the year!

Key object is to try and cap one or three games, trying to cap and bet on 4-8 games you will wind up in the poor house, money management is also key! I will never stop wagering on sports... MLB plays for today: Philly ML Baltimore ML Colorado

That's not true, a real sports handicapper has to have control, common sense and needs to knows how to research and manage money.

Well done for stopping mate. Gambling can be a serious addiction. It's like many other addictions. Just because you enjoy a drink , doesn't mean you're an alcoholic. Same applies for gambling. When you start chasing losses, bet daily or binge, the only way out is to stop. There's no "weaning" off gambling or betting with Less money. That's simply bullshit. It's like telling a heroin addict to inject less per week and lower their dose. Stop gambling and enjoy your life. Don't listen to those who say be "smarter" and manage your money better etc. Don't be a loser like them
At the end of the day, if people were so rich or had a continuous profit, they wouldn't be wasting their precious time on some gambling forum. They'd be spending time with family, vacations, kids etc.
There's people out there who can control their gambling and have fun with it and good for them. No disrespect to you. It's just like people who enjoy drinking socially or when with friends etc. Doesn't mean youre going home and drinking alone or an alco.
But majority of people on here are gambling addicts and if you ask them if they've made a profit in the long term, we both know what the answer will be. Be smart. Walk away and live your life. If you realise you're addicted to gambling, you need to stop. I was addicted and haven't gambled in 4 years. it nearly killed me. I'm no where near out of the woods and I want to keep this up for the rest of my life. Gambling is a beast. It sucks you in. Again, don't mean to disrespect the people here (minority) who enjoy it and are not addicted. But lets be honest, that's a rare sight. You're here because you're a gambling addict. Don't @ me. It's the cold hard truth and you need to accept it. First step to a better life is realising you're powerless over this illness. I mean if you actually had a life, a family, children, a big paying job, you wouldn't need to ask other gamblers for tips. You want a better life? Don't be a loser and believe you will win and that gambling will save you. Or that you just need that one big win to sort you out. No. You're sick. Get help. I'm not sorry for this harsh post. Ban me if you will but it's the truth and you all know it. Don't go listening to those who tell you to be disciplined and bet smarter. Yeah ok, go tell the heroin addict to be smarter and manage his injections. Go tell the raging alcoholic to start with one bottle a day instead. Don't lie to yourself. Get help now. Sort your life out.
It's a serious life threatening illness.

At the end of the day it's all about probability. If you got an addictive personality, have no money management skills, don't understand cause effect, when asked why you bet team A vice B and have no reason or a reason that hasn't always proved itself in the past - your probability of success is going to be a lot lower than if you embrace doing the things mentioned. In addition, ego plays a big part of it - sometimes we bet to prove we are smarter than the bookmakers and even fellow gamblers and the amount you bet strokes the ego for many.
I think many of us can relate to your situation. I took a hiatus for a while then after the internet came about and I was able to employ the things mentioned above (getting data easily), learning, improving, still learning and improving - as well as measuring my success and failures on how often I deposit into my account vice the money I win or lose helped as well.
I wish you the best.

One always has a positive return. The other rarely does. Gambling is like drinking. Fun in moderation, devastating if out of control. Set a limit on how much you are willing to lose and never go beyond it.

@DeaconBlues2525
If you set a limit, the feeling you get when you hit that limit and can’t be any more or shouldn’t be any more because you hit that limit, is an awful feeling

Don't get me wrong. I love gambling. The best way to gamble is to look at it as entertainment. If you are losing and not having fun, do something else with your money. If you are having fun, decide how much the fun is worth and only allow yourself to lose that much. Call it spending, not losing. Nobody says I lost 50 bucks taking my family to the movies.

Nothing more inaccurate than this. If you want to make a living from this you cap all 15 games on the board. But you need to be aware that in just a fraction of them you will find a bet with value. And in several days, you won´t find a bet at all. And that is fine.
We put on the work to get the most accurate premises. We then put our mind and reasoning to interpret such premises and arrive to conclusions. And then you need discipline to stick to those conclusions and your gameplans. The problem with most of bettors is that after spending 1 hour capping 4 games, they cannot accept to leave without placing one bet.
