Game 2 was a push on the total for some at 9 and an over for most at 8.5, but the game really played like an under. Baltimore was gifted 3 runs in the 2nd on a pop-up that 3 players on the White Sox didn't call. Orioles finished with 9 hits on the game and only 2 runs after the 2nd. White Sox were shut out for the 2nd time in 3 games, this time vs a starter who has been awful all season. Last night's game was at the top of the list for bad performances and that is saying a lot for the Sox this season.
Cannon goes for the White Sox tonight. He had been fairly dependable for a rookie, but has regressed recently. He finished July strong and started August well, but he has given up 4-5 runs a game in 6 or less in his last 4 starts....he could be wearing down or just regressing, but had been somewhat positive for the Sox in his rookie season as a potential rotation piece for next season
Suarez has been excellent for Baltimore. He has given up 4 ER in the last 30IP. Overall, having a good season and facing the worst lineup in baseball today.
As we know, it's hard to see the White Sox scoring more than 3 runs in a game and even that has become a challenge.
Will they rebound and at least play competitively after a horrible performance?
Will Cannon rebound from recent outings? The 24-year-old has lost four straight starts, and in five outings in August he stumbled to a 6.31 ERA, 1.79 WHIP and 20:14 K:BB over 25.2 innings
Baltimore was held in check last night despite the scoreboard and their offense had been somewhat up and down. They are scoring 5 or more in the recent stretch at Colorado and vs Chicago but, outside of Monday, aren't doing it with double digit hits.
