Why are the Astros losing?

Simple question. How is it possible a 108 win team can possibly be on the verge of getting swept out of the playoffs with title experience, home field advantage and a rotation perfectly set up to win in October?

Quite simply. RISP....

 

nats are hitting their RBIs ... over 48% in postseason with 2 outs....

 

compared to stros hitting around 15-20% only. 

that’s probably the most basic reason why they are in a 2-0 hole

So why are they not hitting with RISP? What can be the reason of this? Again, they have the PO/title experience, good coaching...

Nats are 84-40....last 124  best record in baseball....

If you have watched the Nats play throughout the postseason it's a simple answer:

Confidence

Team chemistry

Good pitching

Good defense

They are firing on all cylinders right now. I honestly don't know if the Astros will win a single game against them.

Ultimately it comes down good karma vs bad karma between these 2 teams.

Houston has way too much confidence going in. Organization, Astros fans, sports analyst, all had the mentality of Houston “Taking It Back”. 

On the other hand, Nats fans were just happy to watch their team win a a playoff series. Organization stayed humble and played in the moment. 

And of course, most importantly,  this is all part of the Indian cursed against the Washington Redskins and Syder> the only sport organization with a losing record consistently.

I would say, at this point down to the Nats, that the "overconfidence factor" has been laid to rest...going on the road will be the best tonic for the Stros...

Yess, azztros had a players only meeting wed night into the wee hours but greinke had a towel over his head in the dugout with his head hung low.
Astros won't win a game 4 with bullpen day vs patrick corbin.

I wonder why it is only -260 for Nats to win series. I thought it would be -450 ?

Well, for some reason, this series and the big Houston price got me to thinking about the 1990 World Series. At about -250, Oakland was a big favorite in it too. It was kind of a foregone conclusion that the A's would win. However, the Reds swept them 4-0, one of the biggest upsets in MLB history.
