1. The overwhelming # of threads in the forum (please hurry AS break)
2. The number of people who want you to be impressed they are 43-22 (but only up 3.4 units-mix in a dog now and then)
3. The absurd reasoning of the early season newb (today's special has to do with Randy Wolf's utter dominance over the Pirates.)
Feel free to add to the list of reasons how you can tell it's early because.....
But first- listen up newbs - the fact that Randy Wolf is 7-1 against the Pirates means.............f**kin nada. Ask yourself these 3 questions . How many teams has Wolf pitched for in the last 6 years? When is the last time he has faced the Pirates? How many of the those Pirates will be in the lineup tomorrow???
Answers: More than 4 teams, probably 3 years ago and maybe 1 (it is Pittsburgh for christs sake).
This is the kind of crap you don't need to concern yourself with. Spend your capping time more wisely.

No because as you said things are always different. For grins I looked up a game in May 2001-Ricky Bottalico got the save for Wolf that day. John Wanderwal whiffed 3 times hitting in the 5 hole. etc. It shouldn't be part of your analysis for tomorrow's game. Capping is hard enough without adding paralysis by analysis.

I understand what you saying regarding lifetime records, im not a huge fan of that myself, considering the pirates trade everyone on their team by the AS break anyways. I agree with you when you said that this should not be part of your capping for the game. Still cant put cash on the Pirates. probably wont all year.
Good Luck to you

you are absolutely right about stats from years ago being pretty irrelevant. that being said the pirates do have lots of lefties in their lineup this year which should bode well for wolf

THose are the important numbers and Pitt batters dont fair well
Nice try though!
Pitcher v Batter stats are very relevant but pitcher versus team means nothing. I think the reasoning that Joe Pitcher is 54-3 versus the Reds is absurd.

So do you have any picks or you just complaining about people that actually post picks regardless new or not?
I just joined but it seems to me that 200 posts are not a lot at all. So I am unsure your purpose in creating this thread but it seems like you might be a "newb" as well...

Only thing more absurd than those stats are people that come on to public forums and try to be know-it alls or traffic cops. There is absolutely nothing wrong with having a great record, but low units. + money is + money. Jbril brought pertinent info to an otherwise useless thread

So if Pirates won today, he would probably be coming in tooting his own horn saying he was right and that everyone is noobs. Now that Pirates are down 10-0 halfway through the game, looks as though he has disappeared. Hendog.
