Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations

Question

Evidently this show has been on the air for like 7 years but somehow I just discovered it (mildly pathetic). But anyway, what do you guys think? I think it is a great show probably because I really want to travel extensively some day and I guess this show gets me in the mood. Plus, Anthony Bourdain is a bit of a strange dude but he is a badass. The fact that he is a foodie is cool but what&#x27;s even better is his brutal honesty...not to mention his more than average boozing and the fact that he is a former drug addict. But all in all a really cool show that I enjoy watching on Mondays on the Travel Channel at 8CST. If you are a fan of the show then I suggest you go to Travelchannel.com and read Bourdain&#x27;s blog which is a further insight of his recent travels. So, what do you guys think about the show and Anthony Bourdain?

Yeah I read about his book...might go see if I can find it at Half Price Books or something...I don&#x27;t read enough to invest in a Kindle

Liked his book Kitchen Confidential and think his show is pretty good, not sure I would be able to stand hanging out with the guy more than 10 minutes though.

I&#x27;ve probably seen every episode.  Really solid show.  Some are better than others.  As a rule, the ones in Asia are better than his ones in Europe or Africa.  The US. ones are hit or miss.  The recent one on Boston was very good, as were his shows on Disappearing New York, Chicago and Cleveland.

&#xD;&#xA;I have several on the DVR, and that&#x27;s one of them.  Can&#x27;t say it sounded too exciting, and it doesn&#x27;t sound like it was.

&#xD;&#xA;I think he gets his own joke, though, which is very important to me.  I think he wakes up every day (screws the new wife) and lauughs out loud that there are millions of people who actually care what he has to say about stuff.  Good for him.

The episode with Josh Homme was really good.  You can tell they were high at times during the filming.

I somehow stumbled on his show the first night it aired and have been watching ever since, hes a cool guy and gives insight to different cultures through their food.

Yeah, I think its a great show for sure. Gives me the itch to do some world traveling (which I have yet to do). Well, other than a 5 day drunken rampage in Cancun, Mexico when I was 20

The Cajuns blew his ass away(8/30)!! I lived in LA for 8 months and was blown away to, far and away the best food Ive ever eaten on a day to day basis. Homemade boudain and crawfish etouffe should be national treasures.

New Orleans has great food but the shacks in the middle of nowhere(Alexandria, Cottondale, Ruston etc etc) serve food that will blow your mind.

Sashimi, I have been to New Orleans twice and their food is pretty outstanding but unfortunately I didn&#x27;t venture to any of these "shacks in the middle of nowhere" but hell, I&#x27;ll take your word for it lol.  Oh but I actually didn&#x27;t get a chance to catch the episode yet, I was busy Monday night. I need to tune in to the Travel Channel and try to catch the re-run

Good, if not great show.  I&#x27;ve had the misfortune of meeting/working with AB on a couple of occasions.  He really is as full of himself as it appears on TV.  First class prick.

i dig it, but when he has lame tour guides or doesnt connect with them the show gets a little awkward. he is very deferential to hardscrabble and simple folk but can be a dick to established folk. hes got a hard on for the blue collar humble folks and hates himself because he is anything but that...

What sort of occasions have you worked with him?? That is pretty cool for sure. But yeah, I have a hard time telling if he is a first class asshole or if it is just for show. But there are many incidents throughout the show where he seems down to earth/compassionate I have noticed he has a real hard on for street vendors.
