Saw it today........not bad. My son wanted to see it. Nothing too original but a good theatre movie. Somewhat humorous with some good action..........It's a PG-13 movie so you take it for what it's worth.

Most film critics seem to like this movie.  Good Spielberg ET inspired story with "heart" by Abrams of &#x27;Lost&#x27; and &#x27;Cloverfield.&#x27;

It was ok. Movie felt like it would never end though in a way. Pretty long movie and it ends kinda abruptly. 6 out of 10.

whats wrong with you people?? The best part of this movie was the anticipation from the trailer..Some dumb kid is about to get eaten alive then all of a sudden hes like, "its ok, i understand..u can go home now" Then whatever the hell it is steals a bunch of metal and returns to space. Just horrible. Maybe if people quit paying money to see this horrible shit they might put some effort into making them.

This movie was so bad words cant really begin to describe.

The whole theater was just laughing as we walked out.

I love J.J. Abrams. He has created some of the best T.V. ever.... I thought his Star Trek movie was fantastic.

But this was just a huge waste of time

Horrible. Directed by Abrams, but so obvious Spielberg was the exec producer. Typical sugary-sweet shlock. It was a mix of "War of the Worlds," (the newer version), "Cloverfield," "ET," and a little "Stand By Me."

The original teaser for this looked so promising, but the finished product was garbage.

I just saw it and I really liked the movie, but then again, I am not a movie snob like some.

Yes the ending seemed thrown together but all in all I thought it was very solid. Not sure if people are expecting Oscar caliber performances from these kids but I thought they were fine.

I liked how they didn't force the 80's down your throat. You could tell it took place in the 80's without it feeling forced.

I guess the only minor change they could have made was some of the verbiage or lingo the kids used. I noticed one kid say "douche" and I don't think that word was very common in the 80's.

Overall I think it's worth seeing. If you expect some award winning performances then you're out of your mind and need to get a clue
