Best gambling movies of all time.

California Split, with Eliot Gould and George Segal, is very on the money with colorful characters and humor--also agree with others on Let it rid, and The Gambler @Cincinnati Kid, California Split is best all around for me.

'Two for the money' could have been an excellent movie, it's not even close...IBut it's still a lot better than "the worst gambling movie of all time!'

'The Cincinnati kid' was good, but not as good as people make it out to be. It was basically 'The Hustler' remade with poker.

I can't think of anything better than 'Rounders' as far as gambling movies go. With 'The Hustler' being #2.

plays on Turner Classic Movies Saturday July 12th @1:30 pm Eastern time 10:30 am pacific. agree with Dutch1976 about the plot BUT still well acted by Steve McQueen, Edward G. Robinson, Karl Malden, Ann-Margret and Tuesday Weld with Joan Blondell (Golden Globe Best Supporting Actress nomination), Rip Torn and Cab Calloway in supporting rolls. thought Jack Weston was an excellent character as "Pig"

didn't really think California Split (1974) with Eliot Gould and George Segal was that great a movie. both Segal and Gould were at the top of their game back then and they save a pretty lame plot. except for the the race track and the ending poker and craps games in Reno, I thought it was pretty "flat" overall

The scene in the parking lot where they'd been through a losing streak and finally made a score and a mugger shows up. Elliot Gould counts off $500 and tells him to get lost.

Also the scene with the little old lady betting $1 on any 7 while the shooter's on a roll.

Let it ride,,,,,   I honestly think that should've been the name of this website instead of Covers.   I hate to say it, in one way or another it exemplifies 99% of us on here.

Close second...  Rounders..   If you introduce me to someone who doesn't like that movie,,,,  I'm probably not going to trade small talk with them for too long.
