Breaking Bad "The Fly" episode last night

What the fuck was that?  One of the best shows on television and then they shit the bed with that?  It felt like I was watching a bad installment of the 3 stooges.

Anyone else disappointed with last nights episode?

it wasn't as good as the other episodes but i didn't think it was that bad. every other episode has been so good that we were bound to get one that was a little sub-par sooner or later

Where they trying to show that he is losing his mind?

How dumb is Jesse? He is due 1.5 mill and he steals like 5 grand worth of product.

I liked it. I really thought walt was going to spill the beans on how he saw Jesse's gf die and how he could've saved her.

It was extremely weak henry...agree. All the while I was thinking c'mon guys, cut the bullshit and start cookin but it didn't happen. Last week was also borderline.

I think we're due for a good one next Sunday.... -280.

That explains a lot.  Thanks for the link.  However, I disagree with the writer's opinion that that was a great bottle show.  I saw the "Pine Barrens" episode of The Sopranos that he referenced and it was great.  "Fly" was hard to watch because the standard for this show has spoiled us.  We're used to an entire hour of great acting, great dialogue, and constant suspense.  "Fly" had about 2 minutes of suspense and the rest was garbage.  I love Breaking Bad, but "Fly" was just bad.

Here's to hoping next week will be a return to the quality we're accustomed to with this show.

I agree with Henry. We've been spoiled by the twists/turn/variety of this show. Although I like when Walt & Jesse are in the same scene, those two in a room for an entire show is too much. After reading the article, it does make more sense and I can appreciate the angle.

I believe the Pine Barrens episode was the best Sopranos episode ever and although a lot of it took place in the "Yukon" according to Paulie the episode had many other aspects and actors. 

This episode of BB was the worse one ever but it really wasn't awful like the dream episode of the Sopranos.

Now that I've seen the episode, I find it hard to understand why so many people missed the point of this episode. The author in the blog article I linked to said it best:

<<Simple episode. Cheap episode. Brilliant episode. A series high point. I love the explosions and the shoot-outs and the mind games, but all this show needs to achieve greatness are these two horribly flawed characters, and the two tremendous actors playing them.  >>

Kind of the same commentary regarding the finale for Lost. Some people were in it for the story and were disappointed. Some were in it for the characters and were impressed.

       Benny Hill and The 3 Stooges were simple, cheap and brilliant too, but it's not what this show is about.  Two buffoons chasing and swatting each other and a fly for 60 minutes is not greatness to me.  Oh then Walt locks Jessie out of the lab so Jessie cuts the power off to show him who the bitch is...that's 12 year old humor.  The only thing missing was lighting farts and the slumber party would have been complete.

i read the article and understand but did not like the episode..kind of turned off by the whole season. i agree on the sopranos pine barrens episode one of my favorites.

So I'm guessing the opinion this week is "better but still not good enough"?

There do seem to be taking it quite slow this season but still interesting to see where they are going with the storyline.

I liked this week's episode a lot.  Great suspense in slowly tying things together.  Back to being what this show is... compelling, suspenseful, dramatic and intriguing.

I liked the show this week, Combo getting killed by Jesse's new girls brother was a good twist. Jesse wants to take-out the 2 guys that dropped off the drugs.

Walt having dinner with Gus was good too. Walt always is so apprehensive/cautious when he's around Gus. Gus's line "never make the same mistake twice" has to refer to Walt partnering up with Jesse again. My prediction is Jesse's contract is up this week or next.

That was a surprise ending for sure.  I think we can all pretty much figure out what the cliffhanger will be next week.

Oh and Mike talking to Walt at the end of the episode.  Well, Walt may have a very good person in his corner now.  I really liked Mike showing a different side and becoming a person instead of a killer.

yeah but like Mike said, "we got a good thing going, do you really want to throw it away over some junkie". Do you really think Mike will side with Walt over the man who pays his salary? We will see next week. What a great Sunday next week, Breaking Bad Season Finale and Season Premiere of True Blood!
