Encore channel is showing the classic "cops & robbers" film Heat (1995) Sunday Feb 24th @ 9:05 am and Wednesday Feb 27th @ 6:30 pm. I am sure most everyone has seen it before BUT here is a chance to record.
it has one of the BEST gunfights in the history of film and was the first film with Al Pacino and Robert De Niro together in a movie. also stars Val Kilmer and Tom Sizemore with Danny Trejo, Ashley Judd, Jon Voight and Ted Levine in supporting roles. relatively unknown actors Kevin Gage and William Fichtner are excellent as the characters of the psyco Waingro and the crooked investment manager Roger Van Zant.
I think the movie was worth watching just for the bank robbery gunfight AND the scene with Pacino as the cop, Detective Vincent Hanna, and De Niro as the robber, Neil McCauley, in the coffee shop.

One of the best ever made. Living in LA and watching that live in N Hollywood was one hell of an event. Lapd found tapes of that movie in their VCR's before the robbery.
AK-47 pinned down every police officer in LA County without mercy. Sniper .308 round shot one of ém in the collar bone, after that he blew his own lid off.

Ya I remember that REAL robbery which was supposedly inspired by "Heat". cops did a better job of containing those two mutts than in the movie.
I remember various police chiefs saying that IF their officers ingaged the criminals in the middle of a robbery like in the movie, their butts would all be FIRED. better to just FOLLOW them and take them down away from the scene rather than starting a freeking WAR in the middle of a city.

Saw it in theatres at least 2x. Awesome movie, probably watched it 30x overall. The Blue-ray dvd contains some great material regarding the making of it. I believe it said every take of the war in the street they had 800 shell casings in the streets. In Top 10 of my all time favs without a doubt.
Classic seen between Pacino and DeNiro in the coffee shop.
DeNiro: "You see me doing thrill seeker liquor store holdups with a Born to Lose tatoo on my chest?"
