I think I counted 8 movies in the top 50 that I never heard of
Its nice to see the Big Lebowski get some love.
Mikael, the only one I have seen that you havent seen is raging bull. I thought it was good, but no way do I think its #11 good.
The love that Raging Bull gets (at least, top 15 of all time love) could very well be due to the physical transformation that Robert DeNiro goes through throughout the course of the film- it was pretty unheard of at the time.

also the original Alien, which many critics rate as one of the most suspenseful movies EVER, below the 2nd in the series Aliens, which is pretty much a standard action movie?
Its nice to see the Big Lebowski get some love. Agree
I would also put Stanley Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange higher than #37 and definately Akira Kurosawa's Seven Samurai, which which became the basic story line for all the "Magnificent Seven" westerns, higher than #50.

"A combination US Navy recruiting film, closet gay porno movie, Reaganite flag-waver and love letter to big, shiny jet fighters. Tony Scott still manages to get fluttering doves and shafts of light through dust into it."
(the ONLY thing that saves this piece of tripe are the air scenes and Kenny Loggins "Danger Zone" set to the opening carrier ops scene and the F-14 Tomcat. in the real world,Tom Cruise's character of "Maverick" wouldn't have made it thru Indoc in Pensacola)

REALLY funny (and bang on) review.....

I think all eight should be at least in the top 100
two relatively "unknows" that I'm glad got rated.......
Downfall (aka Der Untergang) @ 245. German film with subtitles about the last days in Hitler's bunker. GREAT acting by Swiss actor Bruno Ganz as Hitler. the scene where Hitler finally realizes the war is lost has been used in various YouTube "mash-ups" where the subtitles are changed to Hitler railing against everything from his Dalles Cowboys losing in the playoffs to buying a house just before the real estate market tanked.
Leon (aka The Professional) @ 227. VERY underrated 1994 action movie with Jean Reno as the hitman Leon, Natalie Portman as the young girl who's taken in by Leon after her family is murdered and Gary Oldman as the villainous drug agent Stansfield.

Scarface (the 1983 Al Pacino version) @ 284?

typo correction... Glengarry Glen Ross was rated @ 470 (WAY too low for the quality of the acting. hell, just Jack Lemmon's and Al Pachino's performances makes it a top 100 film)
