Favorite Season of The Wire & why....

Just wanted to hear some opinions on everyone's favorite season and why - and opinions on why this show got no public acclaim...
(I personally think it was the realest shit on t.v.)

Season 4 was my favorite. I can't really put my finger on why but I've watched every season at least twice. The new characters and story line on Season 4 just stuck out to me the most. If I put them in order from favorite to least favorite it would probably be
 
4, 3, 5, 1, 2

season 1 was the best by far in my opinion. Although i liked the other seasons story lines, season 1 was the best because most of the focus was on the streets and Avon. If i had to put them in order i would go 1, 2 ( loved the docks), 4,3,5. I hated season 5 with the paper and most guys behind bars expect for marlo.

I think season 2 was very underrated because it wasn't about the inner-city drug trade as much.  However, it showed a different aspect of B-more (blue-collar crime & politics), but it also stayed with the drugs as far as Prop Joe & his connect with The Greek...

1 by far, then 3.  All were good though.  1 for every reason mentioned by yuice20.  3 for the way they got back to it and introduced Marlo.

Season 2 was always underrated and I have no idea why...Season 1 will always be a classic

People either think Season 2 is the best or the worst.  I think it's by far the best season.  Plus it has the most scenes of Omar.  Omar testifying against Bird.  Classic

Season 1 IMO is the best season in television history.
 
It's starts out with the story of Snot boogie!
 
The created that case from nothing, they started with an old Golden Gloves boxing poster of Avon and the fuk up his cousin(Dee) made by killing that guy.
 
Showed how smart the dealers really were and how carefull they were.
 
Never seen a show deal/show the beuocratic(sp?) chain of command, and how people didn't care or want to know was going on.  Rawles only cared about his clearence rate, Daniels had the Deputy Ops up his ass.  How a Detective like Freeman would be cast down for doing what he thought was right and pissing off his higher ups.  Freeman showing Prez about paper trails and how there will be a name on every piece of paper if you know what to look for.
 
Them figuring out the codes for what the re-ups
 
The unit having to shut down and present the case as is because they were starting to follow the money and public officials were getting pissed.

just finished the first 3 seasons........so far I liked 2 the best followed by 1 then 3. Can't believe I just started getting into this show. Probably my favorite on TV right up there with Dexter.

I f*ckin' HATED season 2. I wanted to punch Ziggy through a wall.

Seasons 3-4 were amazing.

3,4,1,5,2 is my rank.

I'm watching this again as soon as I get home.
