BEST thing about PBS back in the late 70's/early 80's was the BBC import "Doctor Who" was excellent SciFi. the "first four Doctors" serials are STILL great viewing esp with Tom Baker as the "4th regeneration".
wish BBC America or PBS would run a marathon of them. the "new" Doctor Who's are good BUT not as "thoughtful" as the early ones

Tom Baker is STILL the number one "fan favorite" among Doctor Who fans and the 1975 6 episode Genesis of the Daleks in 1975 is STILL rated the best story ever and I believe still holds the highest TV ratings for the series. he is also my personal favorite
the "first four" Doctors, William Hartnell, Patrick Troughton, Jon Pertwee and Baker were all excellent. seventh Doctor Sylvester McCoy was a personal fav because, although he could be serious, he also played the role as light comedy. definitely the funniest of the Doctors. of the "moderns" on BBC America, I really liked both David Tennant as the 10th Doctor and Matt Smith as the current 11th "regeneration"
