I was only expecting an average run of the mill movie when I went to the theater but I came out totally entertained. This film is super great.
Robert Downey Jr. plays John Stark the president of a weapons manufacturing company. John's father worked on the atomic bomb project before creating the company that John is the head of and John was an engineering genius at an early age graduating from MIT with honors at age 17. He is a total narcisist lock in the psychological maturity of an adolescent thinking he is indestructable because of this immense intellect. He puts himself in dangerous situations without totally testing the stability and limits of his inventions because he is so arrogant believing his genius intellect will get him through every situation without a scratch. He is a womanizer and has "one night stand" flings with exceptionally beautify women then tosses them aside like yesterday's newspaper. He is the ultimate male ego.
Of course the film has fantastic special effects and action literally exploding everywhere but what makes this film a truely great success is the comedic relief throughout the film. I and everyone around me in the theater laughed hysterically practicly throughout the entire film. Great job on the script and the actors nail the lines and scenes perfectly.
also starring in the film are Jeff Bridges, 4 time Academy Award Nominee. Gwyneth Paltrow, Academy Award for best Actress in SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE. Terrence Howard, Academy Award Nominee for role in HUSTLE & FLOW.
I loved this film so much that intend to pay theater admission to see it a few more time before it comes out on DVD.
