a couple of weeks ago i started a thread "movies i saw this week, where we would post movies old or new that we watched for the 1st time along with reviews.
 
to me the week format is too short and then there isnt discussion of the movies before the next week starts ..sio lets just do em month at a time if anyone else wants to

That hand to hand fight scene with the book though was amazing

I liked the whole Bourne series, but the last one IMO exhausted the storyline a little. Well worth watching though.


I just watched the movie "Frances" Jessica Lang 1982

The first hour was a typical timeperiod piece and then .............


Jessica Lang used to pretty pretty hot in her day.

Just saw "Last King of Scotland" last night.  Great movie and unbelievable acting by Forrest Whittaker as Idi Amin.

"Vacancy" on Starz On Demand with Luke Wilson/Kate Beckansale

It was OK.  Pretty suspenseful, a little predictable, a little cheesy.  5 out of 10.  Watch it if you're in the mood for a little mindless suspense, and it's a quick movie.

saw No Country for Old Men yesterday

also saw There Will be Blood this month

i liked the latter a little bit better

im not sure if i like this genre of "you draw your own conclusions" from movies. maybe im not that deep...

Good idea for a movie. 
 
Very good but seemed like there were a few "holes" left unfilled.

I finally watched Zeitgeist last night. I think Bean (?) had posted this link before, but I am going to post it again in here. One of the best movies I have ever seen. The first 15-20 minutes of the movie are kind of slow, but the rest is  .

Population 436. Check it out if u get TMC. Not bad- Ive had more of an attention span for the mindless 90 minute or so horror/suspense flicks than anything else lately.

I watched this too.

I wasn't all that impressed.  It was anticlimactic in some ways, and I just really didn't care much about the characters in the movie at times.  Could have been a whole lot better.

It was OK. . .  maybe a 7 out of 10 for the idea, but probably more like a 6 cause it didn't live up to potential IMO.

Gone Baby Gone- good movie and a pretty good interpretation of the book. The movie was very dark and gritty as it should be. I was a little disappointed in the casting of michelle monaghan as angie. I just had a different vision of what her character would be look like. If anyone likes this movie or mystic river, then they should check out the rest of Dennis Lehanes books. I've read them all and I haven't been disappointed yet.

Watched Gone Baby Gone last night. I liked it overall but was expecting better. It was totally back-loaded. Didn't read the book, but wish I had before watching because it was probably excellent.

Gladiator (the russel crowe one) outstanding movie!  they couldnt find a way to get connie nielsen naked?
 
Lock Stock & Two Smokin Barrels. good movie also, funny, good action another good one that i wonder why i waited so long to see it

I seem to be on a movie run lately:
 
There Will Be Blood: Pretty good but not great, a little long and not all that interested in the whole oil background of the story.  Acting was very good by everyone in it.
 
No Country For Old Men: Liked it and not sure what the big deal about the ending was, didn't bother me at all.
 
Michael Clayton: Good one as well.  So far, I recommend seeing all these movies.
 
Now the ok and bad:
 
Be Kind Rewind: Not that good and kinda hokey and tries to do the tug on the heartstring thing that's been done countless times.  Didn't laugh too many times in this one either.  Was an ok movie
 
Vantage Point: They should be sued for having a good preview for this movie, because this thing was a dog.  They went back to 12 o'clock at least 5 or 6 times and when you see it you will understand when it gets to the 3rd time how dumb this was.  People in the crowd were actually sighing by the 3rd one.  Way too cheesy stuff after they got past the repeating part and Dennis Quaid uses the Harrison Ford face from Air Force One and Firewall throughout the movie.  Could've been a good movie, but failed miserably.

Didn't care at all for this one and found the lead guy annoying.

I agree about Crank, dumb movie but lot's of good action.  And I have no idea what that guy above is talking about Bourne Ultimatum having not enough action.
