A dark comedy that takes place in an afterlife filled with people who have killed themselves.
I like it...but this is the type of crazy movie I usually rent.
very good movie
I have seen a few this month thanks to Netflix:
BUG
A good friend of mine recommended this film so I added it and just got done watching…. Then I read all of the reviews…. I like to watch movies with dichotic reviews because it usually means that either the reviewer’s expectations were something far from what they received or that the movie frustrated them because it answered fewer questions than it asked. This film does both. Which is refreshing, in my opinion. It is an interesting film with above par acting and a unique plot. I am in no way an Ashley Judd fan and like Harry Connick Jr. even less. On the other hand, I have always liked Michael Shannon, but they are all very good here. Don’t go into this one with a certain genre in mind and you should be fine. It is not quite a horror, thriller, psychological thriller, conspiracy theory, drug drama, dramatic or science fiction film, but rather a movie that blurs lines and gives you the impression that there may be more to the story that you aren’t told (or explicitly shown). If that sounds irritating to you, then choose a different film. There are many more obvious movies out there. If you rent it and like it, check out ‘Jacob’s Ladder’ (Adrian Lyne’s best film)… it is even better, but in the same vein (no pun intended).

This is a pretty good flick. There is a certain charm to the overall mood and characterization that is definitely worth seeing. There are some distinct comments on what does and does not constitute our individual and collective veracity and begs the question, ‘Why can’t something be real simply because we believe it to be so?’ Good acting… interesting story… overall, pretty good.

The performances are good and this is a decent film peppered with some moments of dramatic brilliance. There are several stunning scenes in this film that make the less interesting frames in between worth it. We have seen quite a few films about the horrors of junk and this may not explore any areas previously undiscovered, but it is worth seeing nonetheless.

If you aren’t familiar with the exaggerations of Ken Russell then you will get a nice dose of his extreme flourishes in this one. The premise is fascinating for any of those interested in the invigorating literary culmination of some of the most radical and philosophical thinkers of their time. If you haven’t read any Byron, Percy Shelley or Mary Shelley you are missing out. And the stories of their infamous indulgences are equally remarkable. With all of that being said, this film is, at times, hard to take seriously. Some of the imagery is interesting and it is defiantly a unique effort, but I found myself laughing out loud at times that I don’t think that I was supposed to. It is somewhat entertaining but I think that reading any works from the subjects of the film would be time much better spent.

very very good movie. also good that they do not reveal the guy that is the "bad guy" in the opening credits, good shock when you find out who it is. one part about the ending confused me but excellent movie.
Brad Pitts a pretty good actor... never really saw much of his stuff but Fight Club and this he was really good
