I dont think Pulp Fiction or From Dusk to Dawn suck at all.. i think both movies are awesome.
You misunderstood. I'm not classifying the movie overall. We're looking at movies that start good in the first half but then take a significant drop in in the second half of the movie.
From Dusk Till Dawn is a great example. It starts with the exciting and believable gas station scene, the kidnapping, the border crossing, arrival at the seedy stip club, and then finally, SELMA HYEK STRIPPING.
THEN, for the 2nd half.............
The movie totally falls off the map. There are all these stupid and fake vampires. It just gets so stupid that you might as well turn it off.
Pulp Fiction is less subtle but it gets really weird in the 2nd half with happy pawn shop stuff. There are still some good scenes towards the end though.

I will take the other side. movies that stunk early then were excellent once the first half hour or so "plot set up" is complete.
classic is Battleship (2012) first 35 minutes is absolute tripe and I almost dumped it BUT once the aliens show up it's pretty much non-stop action and the late scenes with the USS Missouri and the "old salts" crew are excellent. the "Mo" and the Arleigh Burke destroyers are the REAL stars of the movie along with double amputee Colonel Gregory D. Gadson, who is still on active duty as director of the U.S. Army Fort Belvoir garrison, as Lieutenant Colonel Mick Canales. he is the toughest guy in the movie.

Upon further review, you're right about 'Pulp Fiction'. It does fall off towards the end. Not only the pawn shop scene but the end diner scene gets boring too.

I like the reversal. It is kind of difficult to think of movies in this context, but I bet you can think of one better than Battleship.
It's funny how bad the actor that plays the main character in Battleship has done in Hollywood. He's got three major flops to his name, Battleship, John Carter, and Savages. He's still rich though, but he better not live too high on the hog.

I was a little bashful about that last diner scene because it brought Samuel L's religious experience into fruition, but I too thought It was boring and drawn out.

Big Lebowski--first half was funny, second was not.
I think the whole movie is one of the funniest ever. 2nd half opens with the "weasel in the bathtub" scene which is one of the funniest in the movie. also Walter beating on the wrong guys Corvette. just the scene near the end where Walter and The Dude are at the funeral parlor and then scattering Donnie's ashes makes the 2nd half worth while

Apocalypse Now. Movie was great until Sheen arrived at the Colonel's position.
Goodfellas. I thought the first hour was absolutely perfect, after that not so much.
Pulp Fiction is great all the way through imo. How could the scene with Harvey Keitel (which is in the back half of the movie as well as the pawn shop scene ruin the movie?)
