"All this Mayem"  

A documentary film that's available on Netflix about the Pappas brothers.

I grew up in the 90s and had skater friends but I didn't follow skateboarding so I didn't know their story.

Even if you are not in to skateboarding, you should check out this out as it's very entertaining.

Australian brothers Tas and Ben Pappas move to the United States and reach the Top 3 in the World Rankings;fluctuating between themselves and Tony Hawk.

Problem was that their lifestyle of partying with women, drugs and booze along with their arrogance made them unpopular with the American crowd at the time.  

3 out of 4 stars for me.

"Entourage"

Even though the series was great in the beginning but started to suck as it progressed through Season 4, I stuck with it until the end.  It's hard to imagine that the movie could be worse than it's last season but the writers made that possible.  

This show had a huge fan base it didn't matter what the movie was about;  it would still make money and it did.  I read that they're making a sequel and as bad as this first movie was, I'll probably watch it when it airs on HBO.

2 out of 4 stars for me

watched the last of the Hunger Games movies on PPV late March. that "franchise" went straight down hill after the first one

watched Spy (2015) with Melissa McCarthy, Jason Statham and Jude Law on one of the movie channels and it was VERY funny with excellent fast paced action. though it was VERY entertaining and would rate it of four

I did NOT start a thread in March because did NOT seem like anyone GAVE a FUKK in Febuary and appeared to be a complete waste of time

I understand LRR.  I just thought I would get it started again.  Lot of sports stuff going on with March Madness.  Now we got baseball and NHL playoffs in April so don't know how many posts we get this month.  I enjoy reading the reviews of the movies.  Most of the time I agree with what others have reviewed.

I watched the Hateful Eight last night on PPV.  I Enjoy Tarantino's Movies ...Not this one  only good part was when Sam Jackson gets shot in the Balls .

watched The Big Short (2015) on PPV in March. biographical "dark comedy"-drama about the players who identified the 2007–2008 "housing bubble" early and were able to profit from the collapse of mortgage bonds.stars Christian Bale, Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling and Brad Pitt. I am somewhat a "markets nerd" so I enjoyed it. shows all the completely crooked baloney that went on back then. is just unbelievable that NO one, save one Frenchman in Switzerland went to prison. I rate it for those into the history of those events although the movie Margin Call (2011), based on the collapse of both Lehman Brothers and Bear Stearns, which stars Kevin Spacey, Jeremy Irons, Zachary Quinto, Demi Moore, and Stanley Tucci, is a better acted drama

I give Margin Call 3 out of 4 dog bones.  Good movie.  Haven't seen The Big Short yet.

Surprised that you fellas saw Margin Call as many people have not.  

3 out of 4 stars for me as well.

I heard nothing but good things about The Big Short.

Wall Street Money Never Sleeps (2010)

Shia LaBeouf, Michael Douglas

2/4 dog bones

I was intrigued for a while but like the stock market does sometimes it went downhill.  No comparison needed to the original which was darn good.  This just didn't get it done for me.  Maybe someone else might like it alot better.

The Big Short  very good movie  I'm not sure why they picked Steve Carell to star in the movie , but he pulled it off.

Same here.... very disappointed with this one, especially at nearly 3 hours long.

re: Margin Call. it just happened to be on HD Net movies last night so I watched yet again. VERY well acted movie by all involved. plays again on that channel Saturday April 9th @ 5:40am pacific time for those that want to record

also Spy (2015) plays again on various HBO channels Friday April 8th, Saturday April 9th and Monday April 11th and I think it is worth a look for comedy-action fans. I know I really enjoyed it and could view again

anyone seen the Tom Hanks movie Bridge of Spies (2015) ??? I am thinking of popping a PPV certificate for it. the movie had six Oscar nominations including Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay and Mark Rylance as the spy Rudolf Abel won Best Supporting Actor

Vacation

Remake of the classic National Lampoons movie.  I was going to pay to see it in the movie theater and I'm so glad I didn't wate my money on this garbage.  It stars Ed Helms as Rusty Griswald and Christina Applegate as his wife who travel cross-country to Wally World with their 2 sons.  Chevy Chase and Beverly D'Angelo make a cameo appearance as Clark and Ellen.

This movie was really bad and I'm not going to even compare it to the original.  It was a bad movie by itself.  Jokes were very cheap.  Only thing remotely funny is how the younger/smaller sibling bullies the older one, but it gets old quick.

 Never thought much about it after seeing the trailers, but I liked it. Fairly original, moved along well from the start. Plot was a bit weak but it worked.

VERY much a "sleeper" SciFi-action-"super hero" movie. I thought the cast was outstanding esp Scarlett Johansson as Lucy and the Korean actor Choi Min-sik as about as evil a villian as I have seen in a recent movie. really short run time of only 90 minutes meant it was non-stop action. I gave it    of four a couple months ago. I can watch again and NOT get bored

A Russian teenager living in London who dies during childbirth leaves clues to a midwife in her journal that could tie her child to a rape involving a violent Russian mob family.

3/4  After all these years finally got around to watching and it was an interesting story.  I am sure most have seen this already but if you haven't it is worth a watch.

Slobb I know nothing about the Tas brothers, skateboarding but I enjoy docs and this was very good.

Never heard of Margin Call but will watch.  I liked the big short so I'll probably like this.

Tapped out after 30 minutes with Entourage and won't even watch Wall Street or Vacation, looks terrible.

I liked bridge of spies very slow but I never mind slow as long as it's done well.  It's a decent movie but no way it's Oscar worthy, I can't believe it was nominated so many times.  Guess I'm saying I can't recommend wasting a pay per view on it.

thank you 165yds. that was the info I was looking for on Bridge of Spie. Dish-TV PPV recently took it off their play list so hopefull means will be on HBO or one of the other premium channels soon 

you need to check out Margin Call. as I stated in my post I think it is actually a better acted movie. plays again on HD Net Movies Saturday April 9th @ 5:40am pacific time

The Big Short

Just finished watching this one and I thought it was one of the better films of 2015and of the Great Recession, and well worth the $5 PPV charge. Christian Bale and Steve Carrell both did a great job

3.5 out of 4 for me.  

My Ranking of movies about the Great Recession (any other suggestions would be appreciated)

2.)  Margin Call
3.)  Too Big to Fail

Too Big to Fail (2009) was also VERY well acted 

watched two movies that happened to be on Cinemax late Friday night

Talk Radio (1988) the  Oliver Stone directed movie was loosely based on the assassination of radio host Alan Berg in 1984.  "tour de force" for Eric Bogosian as insult throwing talk show host Barry Champlain "stiring up the sh!t pot" on the air waves. a LOT of pure yacking but pretty fast paced. had never seen it before and found it somewhat interesting. DOES have an obvious ending, though. I would rate it   of four

right after Talk Radio, watched What's Up, Doc? (1972) which just happened to be on Cinemax SO I just could NOT pass it up even though I have it on my "long term save" DVR list already. it is AT LEAST in the TOP 5 of classic "screwball comedies" of all time. stars Barbra Streisand, Ryan O'Neal, and the late Madeline Kahn in her first feature film. supporting cast included Kenneth Mars, who also played the crazy German play writer of "Spring Time for Hitler" in the 1968 also excellent Mel Brooks "screwball comedy" The Producers, with early work by Randy Quaid, M. Emmet Walsh  and Sorrell Booke. it is just one site gag or hilarious line after another and is just "pee your pants" funny throughout. definitely recommend viewing it at least once. has been showing off and on the last couple months on Cinemax channels. I obviously rate it     of four

Spare yourself the agony, it's a complete waste of your life. He needs to retire on Monday - absolutely horrible and ridiculous.

 Just saw The Big Short dvd and I liked it best of those 4 but for matters of institutional malfeasence I prefer non-fiction and the best Doc concerning the 2008 meltdown was House of Cards that I've seen.Another doc that I just saw was The Wavy Gravy Movie which was about the Merry Prankster and Original Beat-Wavy Gravy,who just passed away last month.Perhaps best known as the Head of The Hog Farm who feed 1000's at Woodstock and helped start SEVA,an international org. of doctors that serve like Doctors without Frontiers.Though he started as a Beat comedian and was often dressed as a tye-dye clown you might see his life-work as a Dalai Lama in a Clown nose.The site for excelllent docs  is Docurama.com.

I'll be sure to check it out.  I also heard "Inside Job" was really good.  I know it's on Netflix but I'm curious if it's biased or not.

I see that Matt Damon is part of this documentary and we all know how much of a screaming Liberal the guy is.  

I love the guy as a talented actor but I can't stand him in real life; he's a Left wing douche bag.

Matt damon is most definitely a liberal douche bag. Almost everything he does now is pure crap tree hugging predictable.

Big Short is ok but you have to have a real understanding of equity trading long and short to follow and appreciate the movie. It's really not for any average working folks because it doesn't make any sense to them. Wonder if they made any money at all on this flick.

I was watching it with the lady and several friends.  When it ended, there's a message about how banks in 2015 are offering clients something similar to a CDO.

This girl says, "That was a really good movie, what's a CDO?"  Hahahaha.  I just shook my head.  

I reply, "You're lucky that you're pretty.  Watch it again because that's what the whole movie is about."
