Big Clint fan. High Plains Drifter is one of my favorites of his.

Might have to check out Oujia when I get a chance. I like horror movies but they just don't make many good ones anymore. All about gore now which I don't mind if the movie is good. I remember seeing Saw III in the theater and I almost walked out. I know the movie is about torture but it was way over the top. At least I thought so. And it wasn't near as good at the first Saw.

Defiance (2008) VERY well acted WWII action movie about the J ewish Bielski partisans that fought for survival in the forests of Eastern Poland (now Belarus) during WWII. stars Daniel Craig as Tuvia Bielski and Liev Schreiber as Zus Bielski with Jamie Bell as Asael Bielski, and George MacKay as Aron Bielski.  the beautiful Alexa Davalos plays Lilka, Tuvias love interest along with the also lovely Mia Wasikowska as Asael&#x27;s young wife, Chaya. one of the more interesting characters is the Rabbi and teacher Shimon Haretz played by English actor Allan Corduner who steals about every scene he is in.fast paced 2 hour 15 minute movie with excellent action and pretty much unknown history. plays again on EPIX channels Saturday March 7th @ 10:20am and Tuesday March 10th @ 4:25 am &amp; 7:40pm (all times pacific). I rate it    of four

The Hitchhiker&#x27;s Guide to the Galaxy (2005) comic science fiction movie based on the  BBC radio &amp; TV series back in the late 70&#x27;s-early 80&#x27;s. VERY funny movie staring Martin Freeman, Sam Rockwell, Mos Def and Zooey Deschanel BUT Alan Rickman as the voice of Marvin, the neurotic android, steals the show as does Richard Griffiths as Jeltz, the Vogon destructor ship captain. they have the funniest lines. also features John Malkovich in the bit part of  Humma Kavula, Rockwell&#x27;s character Zaphod Beeblebrox (President of the Galaxy), rival, and Bill Nighy as the planet builder Slartibartfastworth watching IF you want a good laugh. plays again on Starz Tuesday March 10th, Wednesday March 11th and Sunday March 15th. I rate it   of four watched the original Taken (2008) with the Mrs on FX the other night. she is usually NOT a big "action thriller" fan BUT really liked it. amazing that Liam Neeson at age 62 has become one of the most "bankable" Hollywood action heros. VERY fast paced movie with pretty much non-stop action. had seen Taken 2 (2012) before the original and thought it was at least as good and maybe better. hoping 2 will be on a movie channel again soon so the Mrs can see it. REALLY nasty villains you want to see died horribly in both. I rate both    of four for action thriller fans and looking forward to the last of the series Taken 3 which was released February 2015 and hopefully will be on Dish-TV PPV or a movie channel soon BUT don&#x27;t know HOW it could top the first two

Blood Runs Cold (2011)Winona, a successful artist looking to get away from her stressful life. Her manager rents her a house in her home town where she runs in to an old boyfriend. They go back to the house, only to find out it is not as empty as they assumed.I keep picking these low budget horror films lately to watch thinking that one of them will be a gem.  Well this was bad.  Really really bad.  The only thing good about it is the Winona girl is hot.  At least I thought so.  I guess there has been worse but this is right up there.1.5 dog bones.  I gave it the extra .5 because of the girl.

Non-Stop (2014) mystery-suspence thriller starring Liam Neeson and Julianne Moore. NOT a lot of action, much more a " NOW what happens?" suspense. entertaining in trying to figure out WHO the bad guy on the plane really is BUT a bit slow in spots. worth watching IF you like a good mystery but NOT your typical recent Liam Neeson "slam-bang" action movie. plays on HBO channels again tuesday March 10th, Friday march 13, Sunday March 15th and Monday March 16th. rate it   of fourPayback (1999) crime-action remake of the 1967 film noir classic Point Blank (1967) staring Lee Marvin only this time with Mel Gibson as the double-crossed by his wife and partner robber trying to recover his money character. non-stop action and worth watching. I though it was better done than the original with a young Lucy Liu as a Chinese "triad" hooker-gang leader. camio&#x27;s as bad guys by William Devane, James Coburn and Kris Kristofferson. action fans should like it. plays again on IFC (which is over-run with commercials so need to record) on Sunday March 15th @ 9:00pm pacific time. rate it    of four

I have seen both of those LeRinkRat. I love Payback. That was a perfect role for Mel Gibson. And it was cool seeing Devane, Coburn, and Kristofferson in the same movie. That is definitely at least 3 dog bones.

I need to go back and watch that movie Rolling Thunder with Devane. I love that movie.

I saw Non-Stop also. I thought it was better than I thought it would be. I would it rate it 2.5 dog bones. Payback definitely better though.

one thing forgot to mention in Payback was David Paymer&#x27;s character the gangster "wannabe" low life Stegman. he is the "comic relief" throughout the movie. also Bill Duke and Jack Conley as the two crooked cops Hicks and Leary. pretty funny the way Gibson&#x27;s character Porter turns the tables on them. for a "slam-bang" action movie there is a LOT of "dark comedy" watched Million Dollar Arm (2014) last nught and was an OK telling of the baseball pitchers from India Rinku Singh and Dinesh Patel who were discovered by sports agent J.B. Bernstein after winning a baseball throwing reality show competition in that country. the boys initially struggle to get their pitching skills up to pro baseball levels but eventually succeed. very funny in spots with the "clash of cultures" aspect of the American J. B. working in India. best characters in the movie are Alan Arkin as baseball scout Ray Poitevint, Pitobash Tripathy as Amit Rohan a young Indian baseball fanatic hired by J. B. and Bill Paxton as USC basball coach Tom House. slow in spots but a nice "feel good" movie with some very funny parts plays again on Starz channels almost daily all next week starting Tuesday March 10th. rate it  of four.

Killing Them Softly (2012) "film noir" style crime drama about a hit man played by Brad Pitt sent to hunt the people that robbed a mob run poker game. pretty good action and some interesting characters played by James Gandolfini, Ray Liotta and Sam Shepard. runs a short 95 minutes and I would compare it to Liotta&#x27;s Phoenix (1998) for it&#x27;s "plot twists". plays again on Showtime channels Saturday March 14th @ 1:00am &amp; 4:00am pacific time. rate it   of four

Girls Against Boys (2012) action-revenge movie about a couple of "girls done wrong" MORE than getting even with the guys that screw them over. got some crazy "ultra violence" and female character of Lu played by Nicole LaLiberte will make you scared to EVER go out on a date AGAIN. thought it was pretty fast action and entertaining trying to figure out just HOW nasty are these b!tches wer gonna BE? runs a short 90 minutes and plays on Showtime-Extream again Sunday March 15th @ 10:30pm and Friday March 20th @ 10:40pm pacifiac time. I rate it    of FourBugsy (1991) crime-drama about the life and times of J ewish gangster Benjamin "Bugsy" Siegel played by Warren Beatty. a real "tour de force" by him and co-star Annette Bening as his lover Virginia Hill with Harvey Keitel as LA gangster Mickey Cohen, Ben Kingsley as Meyer Lansky, Joe Mantegna as George Raft and Elliott Gould as Siegel&#x27;s boyhood buddy turned snitch Harry Greenberg. really well acted movie that probably would have won Oscars in any year ex 1991 because to the "Silence of the Lambs" sweep. nominations for Best Picture, Best Director (Barry Levinson), Best Actor (Warren Beatty) and Best Supporting Actor (both Harvey Keitel and Ben Kingsley). excellent and entertaining movie that runs 2 hours 15 minutes. plays again on HD Net Movies Monday March 16th @ 5:30pm &amp; 10:00pm pacific time. Nightcrawler....   It wasn&#x27;t what I thought it would be....   but I still liked it.  As far as acting, I thought Jake Gyllenhall was spectacularly creepy as the lead.   A warning to Rene Russo fans .......  she&#x27;s starting to go downhill looks wise.   God I freeking loved her in In The Line Of Fire

Journalist Mikael Blomkvist is aided in his search for a woman who has been missing for forty years by Lisbeth Salander, a young computer hacker.

2.5 dog bones. Long movie. About 2.5 hours. The mystery surrounding the film is sophisticated. I won't reveal too much but it certainly has some interesting sequences and a twist at the end. Maybe should have given it more than 2.5 dog bones but I thought the movie could have been shorter and still told the story. But certainly better than the ones I have watched recently.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011) Daniel Craig, Rooney Mara, Christopher PlummerIf you can find the the Swedish "The Girl" movies trilogy of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo , The Girl Who Played with Fire and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet&#x27;s Nest (2009) with Noomi Rapace as Lisbeth Salander and Michael Nyqvist as Mikael Blomkvist it is WAY better than the 2011American remake with Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara. Columbia Pictures - MGM would have been better off just dubbing those three to English and I wish someone would because the trilogy in Swedish with sub-titles is kind of a pain BUT EXCELLENT. I rate it     of four. Rapace is 10 times better than Mara as LisbethThe Crew (2000) "screwball" crime-comedy about four old "wise guys" trying to keep their Miami beach apartment building from going condo by scaring off the "yuppy-puppy" crowd. stars Richard Dreyfuss, Burt Reynolds, Dan Hedaya and Seymour Cassel as the four old former NY mobsters with Jennifer Tilly, Lainie Kazan and Miguel Sandoval. I non-stop sight gags and one-liners throughout and I thought it was hilarious. worth watching just for the "mouse in the house" sketch. runs a short 90 minutes and I highly recommend IF want a good laugh. plays again on FLIX movie channel Tuesday march 17th @ 4:30am pacific. rate it    of fourMuhammad Ali&#x27;s Greatest Fight (2013) HBO movie about the 1971 Supreme Court case of Clay v. United States. has an all star cast including Frank Langella, Christopher Plummer, Danny Glover, Barry Levinson, Ed Begley, Jr and Fritz Weaver as Supreme Court Justices with Benjamin Walker as conservative Justice John Marshall Harlan II (Plummer) liberal law clerk Kevin Connolly. very interesting history well acted by all involved. plays again in HBOZ Sunday March 22nd @ 12:50am pacific. rate it    of four

I watched Dumb &amp; Dumber To.....   I survived about 1:10 into it before I just fast-forwarded the last 40 minutes...  It was soooo bad.   It got so bad that it started to ruin the original for me.   I mean it was that bad....  tried way to hard to recapture the laughs of the first one.   I was very disappointed.  I wasn&#x27;t expecting it to be as good as the first but it really fell flat IMO

Chappie...........saw this last weekend. Pretty good although not a real original story line, &amp; it seemed a bit hastily pieced together. Made by the same guy that produced "District 9", including the S.African setting &amp; actors. The accents of the actors makes it a bit tough to follow at times, &amp; I could swear that the voice of Chappie was the same lead actor from "District 9". It&#x27;s kind of a cross between "Short Circuit", "I Robot", &amp; "Robocop". I enjoyed it.......worth seeing in the theater if you don&#x27;t have a great HT yourself.
