Movies you watched in March 2014

I found the Hunger Games 1 very boring.  Not going to even consider the second.

Hunger Games is really nothing more than a modern version of the gladiator games of the Roman Empire in the first two episodes with some bits from Andrew MacDonald's The Turner Diaries and Philip K person The Man in the High Castle thrown in. Katniss Everdeen is a compelling character along with the little black girl Rue in the first one BUT most of the others are pretty "wooden" and there is no character close to Rue's character in the second.

I will probably go see Mockingjay Parts 1 & 2 just to see what happens. hopefully ALL the Capital people. esp President Snow, his family, and ALL the "peacekeepers" all die horribly

Saw National Treasure a couple years ago and had zero expectations but was pleasantly surprised

WAS suprisingly good for a Nicolas Cage movie. if you liked the plot I think you would enjoy Now You See Me which has been playing on Starz channels

Philip K person is Philip K D-ick. it's a NAME for Christ Sakes, COVERS!!! just like Richard Nixon was known a D-ick Nixon or Richard Cheney is known as D-ick Cheney

watched Oiliver Stone's Nixon (1995) last night and had forgotten just how well acted the movie was esp by Anthony Hopkins as the man himself. the whole cast list is outstanding and too many to list here. check it out on the the wiki page >>> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nixon_(film). one big suprise for me in the cast was how they were able to make Paul Sorvino look so much like Henry Kissinger and how the "Paulie" in Goodfellas was able to do Kissinger's  unique voice

plays on Showtime 2 again Monday March 17th @ 3:45 pm pacific time. well worth recording esp IF you have never seen it. pretty much a "must see" at least once for modern American history buffs or those that just enjoy good dramatic acting

watched 12 Years a Slave (2013) with the Mrs tonight on PPV. haven't seen the other Oscar nominees for this season but can see WHY this one won Best Picture. was VERY well acted by all involved and I am quite suprised no one had ever brought the Solomon Northup story, as written in his 1853 memoir, to the screen before. it is every bit as compelling a story about slavery as the 1977 TV mini-series Roots. definately was worth the PPV and I rate it

Watched Out of the Furnace - Bale, Harrelson, Sam Shepard, Forrest Whitaker, Casey Affleck

A solid movie with a great cast.

Gamer (2009) just happend to catch this science fiction action thriller on the International Film Channel (IFC) last night. definate "ultra-violent" non-stop action with oodles of ordnance and "stuff that goes boom". also some tasty "T&A" and thought it actually had a decent plot too. recommend for anyone that like hard core "blood & guts" movies. hopefully will show on IFC or some other movie channel again soon
