On The Waterfront

This classic was on Bravo yesterday so I decided to watch it, I love the opporunity to watch a great classic when I can.

First time for me too....loved it

  Young Marlon Brando was awesome, the Union/Mob leader was very good and the preist was too

Karl Malden as Father Barry. nominated for a best supporting actor for On the Waterfront as were fellow cast members Lee J Cobb as the mobster Johnny Friendly and Rob Steiger (in his first movie) as Terry's (Marlon Brando) brother and Friendly's lawyer.

insiders thought that the main reason Malden didn't win was because he had already gotten a a best supporting actor oscar for A Streetcar Named Desire 3 years earlier.

definately one of the greatest actors of the 20th century. he passed away July 1st of this year

I did read that about it....3 actors from the same movie nominated for Best Supporting Actor

the movie also had the winners of Best Actor and Actress

 shows ya greatness, you'll never see that again

watched this "classic", which won 3 major Oscars in 1951, for the first time ever the other night and thought it SUCKED. the overacting by every principle in the movie was SO painful to watch that they could use it to torture prisioners at Gitmo.
