Four and a Half out of Five Stars
Jasira is a beautiful 13 year old girl coming of age in a surrounding of selfishness and mixed morals much like that of the real world of a modern teen. Her character, although put in one unremitting circumstance after another, seems to maintain a delicate integrity which makes her the unlikeliest of heroines. To call this film ”crude” and “uncomfortable” is to sadly miss the notion that these attributes work to enhance its bona fide portrayal of high-school life for the modern teen. A fine work of astonishing bravery!
