A very well done adaptation of the NY Times bestseller that shares same name. This is also a Mr. George Clooney's directorial debut. Critics loved the movie (as they loved the book) but they basically shit all over Clooney for not having a creative license and his adaptation was almost word for word the book. I personally have no issue with this and actually want to see what I have conjured in my head when reading and loving a book on the silver screen. A ridiculous and harsh criticism if you ask me. I have watched some behind the scenes footage and I can can tell you they painstakingly trained the actors so that all the rowing scenes would be authentic. Very well done. The cinematography also top notch. The story, action, subtle humor and action very well done. Not saying this is one of my top five films of all time by any means but I am saying that it is worth a watch and happy I did. Read the book or not you will love the film. Highly recommended.
