I come from an Italian background, and loved films like Goodfellas, The Godfather, Casino, etc....

For some reason I haven't watched The Sopranos, so I feel like its a good time to pick up with this series and see it through.

I will keep my thoughts here about series and episodes that I watch. Feel free to comment on what your favorite episodes are, your favorite season, etc....

** Please do not give spoilers away for me though, I would like to enjoy it all **

A great show that unfortunately ran out of material with 2 seasons to go +/- which really makes no sense because there's so many scams & situations that could've been used/developed to keep it interesting.

My favorite show was Pine Barrens (which I'm not alone where Sopranos fans are concerned). Also, the episode where Paulie goes to a psychic is a riot as well. Paulie was my favorite character and unfortunately they had planned to create a significant amount of material to this character but the actor suffered a serious spinal injury and was limited in availability for a significant period of time.

The show reminds me of Brett Favre's career. Great for a while but stuck around too long and went out poorly.

season 3 is the best for me, must be great for kids nowadays growing up being able to watch all these amazing series from scratch

Yeah I kind of like watching series shows when there is a substantial volume going on to just run through them consecutively without waiting a week.

I'm on Season 3 now, where Ralph just beat down his baby mama.

Sopranos was incredibly well written and well acted.

I watch clips from the Sopranos on Youtube all the time.

Great show all around.

Started Season 4. Really enjoying this series and taking my time with it. I'm curious to see where the relationship goes with Tony and Chris Maltesante.

Also, what will happen with his therapist? Will they ever get together?

Do Carmela and Tony separate? Can't see that one.

What happens with this Ralph character? What about this new York family?

Lots of plots and questions heading into season 4.

that scene was a tough one. He kept saying she was a 'hoowah' and pissing Tony off. I liked Ralph, but he was despicable.

I am also liking this Authentic Italian guy Tony brought back from Italy.

But they are insinuating that he is liking/lusting after Carmela. Interesting


Also, wondering if that Russian thing in the woods comes back to bite Paulie and Tony?

A major failure of the series was never doing anything regarding the episode you're speaking of (my personal favorite of the entire series) Pine Barrens. How on earth could they not continue the story regarding the Russian woods business....

Oh no! I thought for sure they were going to have that Russian story come back to bite them. I was just waiting for it. They set it up so perfectly too.

Season 4, episode 8 - really looks like Carmela is obsessing over Fiorio. Wonder if there's going to be some double cross here...

I'm from Jersey and come from an Italian background as well.  But I wouldn't call it the best drama show of all time. It is a really good show.

I hate his kid AJ.  I know so many spoiled brats like that sso his character gets on my nerves.

Seasons 1-3 are the best

4 is hard to watch because the first 3 seasons were great.

The rest are better than 4 but ok.

STILL WORTH WATCHING THOUGH.

I'm on Season 4 episode 11.

Thanks for your input. I am enjoying this series. I love the lingo though and food. So many scenes are centered around food. It models after my own life it seems because all I center stuff around is food / dinner and family.

Oh, Fiorio at the chopper with Tony.... Almost.... For Carmela! Something is going to come to a head soon.

Yeah man, it's definitely worth watching till the end.  You fall in the love with the characters.

One things about the food though.  I'm half Sicilian from North Jersey and never referred to red sauce as gravy.  None of my fellow Italian amici refer to it as gravy either.

Might be a regional thing, but gravy is phucking brown last time I checked.

We always referred to it as sauce.

No , when it 1st came out on HBO , once  a week is all you got , had to wait a week to see  next episode ,Sunday night Mass , Sushi then Sopranos , always tell people that rent it gotta watch from the beginning .

The lingo and talk is spot on!  Most of us Guineas from North Jersey speak like it outside of a professional setting, hahaha.  It's so true.

I won't spoil anything for you but my advice is to pay attention.  There are subtleties that play a part to it's conclusion through each season.

When it's over, you're going to want to watch it again to catch these things.

Enjoy Man!  Great series!  

You need to watch The Wire next.  Best drama series of all time.  Many critics agree with me.  As long as you have a decent attention span, you'll appreciate it.

I'm on Season 4, the finale. Mid way thru it now. Carmela is going nuts on Tony about the one legged Russian girl. Are they really getting divorced/ separated. This is the last straw for her?

Also, why is season 6 divided into Part 1 and Part 2?
