the two movies about Truman Capote writing "In Cold Blood" released in 2005 and 2006 are on this coming Thursday. the 2005 offering is Capote staring Philip Seymour Hoffman in the title roll. won Best Actor Oscar that years Academy Awards. the 2006 is Infamous with English actor Toby Jones as Capote.
BOTH are excellent movies with outstanding leads and supporting casts BUT I thought Toby Jones just caught Capote's mannerisms and idiosyncrasies better than Hoffman did. also thought the supporting cast, esp Sandra Bullock as Capote's "research assistant" Nelle Harper Lee and Daniel Craig as the murderer Perry Smith, were better than Catherine Keener and Clifton Collins.
Capote plays on MGM movie channel Thursday Nov 21st @10:30 am. Infamous plays on Cinemax Thursday Nov 12st @ 9;30 am and repeats Friday Nov 22nd @ 5;00 am & 8:00 pm pacific times
I will let you all decide for yourselves WHICH is the better acted movie

RAT, I'm surprised no one has tried to do a serious sequel of "In Cold Blood". They do sequels of every thing else. I've read the book twice and seen the movie twice and both are good. I think Leo DeCaprio would be great as Capote doing a aging misfit reminiscing about the crime with Chris Bale and J. Phoenix as the killers. We should go to Hollywood and sell this idea! GL, Doc

Rat, As he is reminiscing his muse is Harper Lee. They can go back to childhood and his love of her as his only friend in a lonely childhood and narcissus hatred of her later success with "Mockingbird". Harper Lee

like Capote with "In Cold Blood", Nelle Harper Lee only wrote ONE great book with "To Kill a Mockingbird" BUT both books were great enough to make both famous AND both were turned in to GREAT screen plays. Gregory Peck as Atticus Finch STILL rated the #1 hero on the AFI's "100 Heros and Villains" list

Never liked G. Peck that much. To stiff and stuffy, but yes he will always be Atticus Finch. Perfect casting for that role. I hear he was like Atticus in his personal life, too.

The deal is that Harper Lee won the Pulitzer and it harmed Capote. He started claiming he had wrote the book for her. Surely he said these things when he was drunk but they are like several stains on his reputation. Capote was weak and after "Cold Blood" a poor writer.
