OK... Must have been the same person who boxed me last week for calling someone a "dork".
What a dork.

I've been hearing such great things about The Wire for years that I just picked up the complete series on DVD. Gotta finish up s3 of Sons of Anarchy, finally get around to Boardwalk Empire, and then it is WIRE time.
Also, I saw someone mention Sons of Anarchy a couple posts up. I recently picked up seasons 1 and 2 on blu ray(while DVR'ing s3 live). Season 1 was excellent. Season 2 stepped it up and was really a masterful season of television. It got just a bit too sensational, but not enough as to ruin it for me. I'm about halfway through season 3 and while I initally did not like the whole Ireland/Abel storyline, it is starting to click right now, and I'm really digging it. Assuming s3 ends strongly and s4(supposedly last season) continues the excellent writing/acting, it most definitely deserves to be on my "favorite tv show" list.

The Sopranos

thats about all the TV ive ever really watched, except for sports..love the writing in all 3, absolutely terrific. the writing for Boardwalk Empire's first season was exceptional as well. hopefully, it keeps up and i can place it on my list in a couple of years.

I am surprised at how many people have 'The Office' in their top 5 shows of all time. It was good for a couple of years but has really really fallen off. It's terrible now.
My top 5 would be:
Seinfeld
The Sopranos
The Simpsons
Lost
Dexter
