I was watching The Long
Kiss Goodnight the other day and it reminded me of people singing the wrong
words in songs. There is the scene where Samuel Jackson is singing I’d Really
Love to See You Tonight. “I’m not talking ‘bout the linen” flows much better
than “I’m not talking ‘bout movin’ in” but it don’t make a hell of a lot of
sense. This is right up there with Louie Louie and Billie Jean as one of the
most mis-quoted songs of all time. Can anyone think of other famous songs that
are often mis-quoted?
Then, there is the
Beatles I am the Walrus. What it sounds like John Lennon is saying is exactly
what he is saying. It don’t make sense. In the case of this song you can
mis-quote the lyrics and actually make more sense.
Now that we have the
internet and Youtube we can find the lyrics to any song in five seconds but
wasn’t it much funner years ago when we didn’t know what the hell they were
saying
