I remember the first time I ever saw Lynyrd Skynyrd in concert. It was at Kennesaw College in Kennesaw Ga. They opened for a band - the one I really went to see - Quicksilver Messenger Service.

It was in the gymnasium - very small and intimate show. Lynyrd Skynyrd blew the stage up - we had never heard anything like that before. I couldn't stop talking about them and when their first album came out later that year that is what I gave to all of my friends for Christmas. I still have my original copy.

I bought every album after that. When the plane crashed many years later I was working for a record store chain called The Record Bar. The album they released at the time flew out the door. 

I saw them in concert a few times - after the crash I saw the band at the Fox Theater in Atlanta. Free Bird was almost an out of body experience.

Big big  regret of mine was had good middle front seats for the Outlaws small joint in D.C. but did a lude on top of too many beers.
