What catagory do they fit in? Rock? Pop? Where do they belong among the top bands of the 70's/80's/90/s? Kevin Cronin sings as well as anyone.........Richrath doesn't stun the world with solos, but has some of the most recognizable licks out there..........& all original. For all of you youngins', listen to the entire "Hi Infidelity" album, then decide where you can put these guys in comparison to the pus that's put out these days.

I rememeber going to a concert with REO and a band out of Detroit called 707,it was a "rock show" for sure. But when you take away Roll With The Changes,Ridin' The Storm Out,and Take It OnThe Run,they are pure pop.I remember thinking that Tough Guys was one of their harder rockin' tunes but now when I listen to it it's the poster song for bubble gum rock.I would put them in the same class as Journey.

I don't know. I like the really early stuff and Roll With The Changes is one of my all-time favorite songs but I don't think I'd say Cronin was that good of a singer. The way he draws out the last syllable of every damned line is hilarious, especially in Roll With The Changes. I can tolerate him on the rockier songs, but Hi Infidelity is a joke IMO.

I agree with some of the comments .........earlier stuff was best........(ridin the storm out......back on the road again.......157 riverside av). But as anti-bubblegum as I like to be, I still think "hi-infidelity" is a great creation.Seriously, compared to the crap put out today.........
