From In Through The Out Door........ 

Sort of a bit of the beaten path for Zeppelin. Caribbean feel to it....remember years ago it was the theme song before cricket sparked up on the tele.

 Ofra Haza's Kashmir   (and she's hot) You guys ever seen or heard this before? I was a little too weird, and I kept waiting for it to kick in to something stronger.

Ofra Haza's version is AWESOME! I'd never heard of her before, thanks for sharing that. She died in 2000. Tragic loss. I'm going to look into her music library. And you're right, she's hottttt

I saw Robert Plant and the Band of Joy 4 nights ago-

One of the better shows I have seen in a while-  
He has surrounded himself with some really talented musicians-

It was not at all what I expected, a lot of rockabilly / blues kind of arrangements- much of the new band's stuff (new album in September I believe)

While he has perhaps lost the very upper range of his voice, from his first note you knew who was there- really a haunting kind of voice (especially in a small ~2500 seat theatre)- also, to be in his 60's he was in great shape- same hair, now with a moustache and goatee-

He played a few solo songs:

In the Mood

Little By Little

Tall Cool One    

Down to the Sea   


And of course some Led Zeppelin:

Misty Mountain Hop   

What Is and What Should Never Be

Tangerine

D'yer Mak'er

Houses of the Holy -  

Gallows Pole      exactly how I saw them- same clothes, etc-


And for the last of 3 encore songs-

Rock and Roll

Led Zeppelin "purists" might not have cared for it so much, but I thought it was a pretty good show- had front row side balcony seats so we were about 30 feet from the stage-

Probably the coolest thing about it for me was taking my 14 and 16 year old to see him, and they loved it- now they dig through my CD collection and think that their old man might have decent taste in music- my 14 year old is very intrigued by the uniqueness of Led Zeppelin in their day- so it was a win, win for me-


As an aside Bettye LaVette was the opening act- not really my thing but she can flat out sing-

Immigrant Song was a real attention grabber

Travelling Riverside (or is it Roadhouse?) Blues was a later release that just showed they could play anything

And the quirky Carouselambra has a little bit of everything

You may as well have asked 'What's your best lay?'

Agree with a few others about it obviously being impossible to choose one from the Mighty Zep but theres a feeling I get when I look to the west and my...Ha there is a feeling I really do get coming home from the skirts place after a fun weekend and the weather is all perfect and I drop Over the Hills in the player. Just something about being behind the wheel and cruisin' with that one on. Its right there with CCR's Ramble Tamble and Bones by Radiohead for driving tunes.

I think "Dazed and Confused" is the "scotch whisky" of Zeppelin songs. If you drink liquor long enough, you're going to wind up a scotch drinker.

Hated "Dazed..." when I was first getting into them... now it's a fav... and a really great representation of how they interpret the blues... and how Paige stole a ton of shit from other musicians... and made it sound better than they could have dreamed...

ANYFUCKINGWAY...

"Heartbreaker" is also hard to beat. John Paul Jones has one of the meanest bass tones I've ever heard in that song. Highly over looked... J.P.J. is what makes Zeppelin "heavy".

Just in case... John Paul Jones plays bass for "Them Crooked Vultures"... they're working on a second album.

Never heard this... lead guitar riff is tasty as well.
