Man has NASCAR gone downhill...

NASCAR used to be decent sport 5+ years ago..But now its a joke..

Attendence at events is rapidly decreasing and the product is very predictable thesedays (there hardly ever is any longshots that win these days compared to early 2000's)..

Another thing i think that stinks about the product is that sprint cup drivers that are legitimately good, race in the nationwide series..makes no sense to me..Ex: kyle busch won last weeks nationwide race..why is he is even racing in it? for money, when in fact the people who need to hone their skills should be racing in it..he is taking money from someone who needs the money more..

Will NASCAR ever rebound back..I dont think so...

Mcmurray + 2000 or more to win at Daytona

 

Newman + 4300  @ Phoenix

Reutimann + 3000 at least to win @ Chicagoland'

McMurray + 3000  Brickyard

Biffle + 2300 and up yesterday

 

So I'd say longshots do hit

 

as far as cup drivers racing nationwide it makes sense as sponsors pay good money and with Kyle,Brad or Carl you will get your company up front and get plenty of TV time.Some companys won't drop that kind of money on an unproven driver and hope they do well.At the end of the day its a business

 

 

 

ok, i may be off a bit on longshots..but the sport does seem to be losing alot of its fan..possibly because of drivers like jimmy johnson winning 4 straight sprint cup championships..

some tracks attendance are down but others are still selling out.I don't think it has anything to do with Johnson its more economic as it costs alot to take a family for the weekend same as any other sport

take indianapolis for example..when brickyard race first started, tickets were sooo hard to get, but this year there were tons of empty seats..

understand about the economy..I am just worried a bit about the sport..dont expect the economy will get any better in next few years, so nascar needs to change playing field a bit, b/c its going to be the same 3-5 drivers who are in hunt for sprint cup every year..also, no more sprint cup drivers in the nationwide series..

You take cup drivers out of nationwide and trucks you are doing more harm than good as you will lose sponsors.

indy holds 250k  tell me a football, baseball or any event that holds that # of people.    what do the rockies average for a three game series..    without the likes of kyle,carl or kevin driving in the nw races there would b way less fans then there r now 2 attend a nw race...   40k @ pocono 4 a truck is pretty damm strong

   what 3-5 drivers r those???

plus as staed during racre yesterday infield campers attendance was up 30% from last year @ Pocono

johnson, hamlin, gordon, kenseth...

   hamlin never won a championship,having best seaon of his life....                 gordon last won championship in 01 kenseth 03    they have won a TOTAL of 3 races in the past 60!!!   none this yr!!!!!!!!   even people without tv's  know what jimmy has done     u must not keep up with nascar very much

the car of tomorrow is what ruined the sport, drivers have to drive in a completely different style then they used to, not as much bumping and grinding

 

 

I disagree and the saftey that car has added is a huge plus.Especially after Sadlers wreck yesterday a few years ago he probably doesn't walk away

im saying those guys are in top 5 of sprint series championship when its all said and done..dont have to win races, just do fairly well in each race..

 

as the 48 team has showed you do have to win races in the chase format.

the reason for so many empty seats at Indy, is because it is the worst place ever to hold a stock car event....that track sucks ass for those big box cars....indy cars were meant to run there, not stock cars.....that is the main reason for attendance being down there, not because of anything other than the racing.

 

 

I do agree  so many other places I'd rather see a race

I know for the Michigan race coming up in 2 weeks the price for the same tickets that were $110 for years are 50 bucks this year. I have been going to that race for 8 years now and the last 2 years there has been a huge decline in attendance. That area is really feeling the pinch these days so hopefully this will help.

 

As far as Nascar going downhill just quickly I can count about 10 different drivers that could have won yesterdays race which in my mind is pretty exciting.

Indy ruined it for themselves back in 2008 during the Goodyear tire debacle.

I don't understand the need to hate on Nascar so much this year. I know it seems like the popular thing to do, but this year has been pretty damn exciting to me.

Hopefully we see a great race next week at The Glen.

 

I agree 100% with this, now the nationwide has been a joke, but there has been some great racing in the cup and truck series this year for sure.

cup racing has been great. really cannot think of a bad race  thusfar off my head
