For the life of me, I can't figure out why Nascar handles some of these pit stop situations the way they do.
Kenneth pits in 5th place, Dale Jr pits in 4th place, Jimmie pits in 6th. As they are pitting, a lap car who is 17 laps down wrecks. So what happens? Because of some technicality about when and where a car on pit road passes the start finish line, they put Jimmie Johnson a lap down, Dale Jr comes out 14th, but Kenneth comes out in the lead.
C'mon guys. Use a little common sense. Nobody in their right mind would say Kenneth should be in the lead ahead of Truex and Edwards, Dale Jr should drop to 14th, and Jimmie should be a lap down with the other lap cars. Just go back to the results from the previous lap, let everyone pit, and restart the race from there.
Oh but wait. They let Jimmie Johnson take the wave around, and he gets to be in 15th on the lead lap. Even the commentators (who includes former drivers like Gordon and Waltrip) can't explain it.
Basically what Nascar is saying is because Josh Wise, in an unsponsored car, driving 17 laps down, 10 mph off the leaders, smashes the wall and now has a big impact on the outcome of the race. It's ridiculous.
