Are Nba players trained to miss easy layups

Question

I have seen so many players miss easy layups like they have all to lay it in but instead slam it against the backboard very hard so it can then bounce off for an easy miss. Like its scripted theatre

When games go under.. it&rsquo;s point shaving.. when games go over.. it&rsquo;s no defense and players do not care

Refs swallowed their whistles this game too - unless CLE and BOS defense is just so elite they never foul anyone 90% of the time.

Refs/NBA/Vegas didn't want the Over at all. The main issue for me is just the inconsistency. Some games you'll get like 60 FTs in one game. Another you'll get 20 give or take.

I think it&#x27;s because they&#x27;re expecting contact and assuming a foul is called. So they don&#x27;t commit and just throw it up hoping to get to the free throw line.
