If it gets near -10 you'll flinch? You mean if this game floats up to say, minus 8, you'd still be digging a bet on the Lakers???
Yup. It's a mechanical system play for me. It's got nothing to do with capping. I'm taking the Lakers already. It's only a matter of when I place the bet.

This is one of the bigger games of the year for the Kings. They still have a rivalry and this is a completely sold out game at Arco this year, it will be rockin'! Kings are a much better home team than away and game will be close, with good chance of kings winning this one outright. Looks like heavy action is being placed on the Lakers tonight so I will probably take the Kings right before tip off in hopes of getting an even better line..
WildChild916, I like where your head's at!
(Yes, I just watched Wedding Crashers about four times over the weekend on TBS).

"The Kings have gotten points at home, and beaten, the Detroit Pistons, San Antonio Spurs, Houston Rockets, Utah Jazz (twice), Orlando Magic, Dallas Mavericks, and New Orleans Hornets. The only Western conference power not on that hit list is the Phoenix Suns, who back on November 20th withstood a late rally by the Kings to escape Arco with a 100-98 win. The Kings covered easily that night as a 7.5-point home dog."
It is something to think about Bator, but the more i think about the more i realize that the Lakeshow is nothing like any of those teams you have just listed. How long do you think a 'scrappy' Kings is going to keep this up? I'll take the better team here who has been covering ATS w/o a problem and lay the points against this joke of a team. Sorry I'm the other side here Bator.

They were covering ATS without a problem until last week. That was kind of the point of my whole post, that the Lakers level of play may no longer be good enough to keep up with the increasing demands of the oddsmakers.

Sac town is 3-7 in their last ten. They have no chance at the playoffs...they are also a different team without bibby. Different as in worse.
Lakers are the hottest team in basketball. Owning all they play.
Pau vs brad miller?
Kobe vs kevin martin?
I am on the lakers.
No, they're not. The Houston Rockets are hotter. The Lakers just get more attention. The Rockets haven't lost a game since January and are on a 10-1 ATS roll, but in your mind it's all about the Lakeshow, I guess. Personally, I don't think they're all that, but Kobe's been playing out of his mind for a month.

By the way, a couple of things about those 8 home dog wins that I'm clearly making too big a deal out of....
The Kings went 6-2 ATS in the 1st halves of those games and 6-2 ATS in the 2nd halves. In the two 1st half ATS losses, the Kings responded by winning the 2nd halves by double digits each time. In the two 2nd half ATS losses, the Kings had already built double digit halftime leads. So, you might not want to play the Lakers at halftime if the Lakers don't cover the 1st half, and you might not want to play the Kings at halftime if they're already up by 10+.

Wow!! It's posts like these that keep me coming back to Covers
I know you're busy, MrBator, and Covers nation is probably the least of your priorities. But PLEASE more posts like this one!! Awesome!
I told myself that I'd normally hit the Kings hard in this spot. But because they had to mount a 20 point comeback against the hapless Heat, I told myself I wouldn't.
Then...
I saw this post. And also thought more: Did the Kings really expend that much energy in coming back? They had erased the 20 point deficit by the end of the 3rd and even won by DD.
Going large with the Kings in this one with ya...

Orlando always seems to think they are better than they are and manages to very easily look past teams. The Raptors are fiesty, and despite Bosh's absence, their guard play is good enough to dominate the Magic's guards.
Those 8 points seem mighty enticing...

MrBator,
What are your thoughts on the Bosh-less Raptors.

Im not on the Lakers, just trying to play devil's advocate to get a read on this game...
Lakers are 21-10 ATS away...
Lakers have won the last 2 vs the Kings by a combined 34...
Kobe averaged 31.3 last year vs the Kings and is following a 52 point game against the Mavs...
Do you really think the Kings will win this game and if not why would you take a chance that they would lose by less than 6?...I think its a silly bet that shouldn't be touched considering there are plenty of better bets tonight...

I would think rectifying this stat would be the top priority for tonight's matchup against Mr. Howard...
Bobcats 110, Raptors 98: Toronto was out-scored 30-0 in second chance points, a low water mark on the season for Toronto, as they dropped their second straight game against a non-playoff opponent Sunday.

But what happens when they mail in a couple of games, as the Raptors did against the Indiana Pacers at home last Friday and on Sunday against the Bobcats in Charlotte, where they set a NBA record by recording not a single second-chance basket, while giving up 32 second-effort points to the woeful Bobcats?
Well, nothing really happens.
Oh, sometimes they get all bothered and bounce back in shame. Embarrassing losses to the short-handed Washington Wizards, Los Angeles Clippers and New York Knicks of late have inspired blowouts in response.

"We just have to have an urgency to get it done and know that we're not going to get where we want to go if that doesn't change," Anthony Parker, one of the few Raptors who has stepped up his game since Bosh has been out, said after the loss in Charlotte. "It's not effort, it's that mentality and that hasn't been there."
Mitchell said the other night: "The tough things? We didn't do them. We didn't box out, they beat us up on the glass. … There's nothing to say. It's happened to us before. It's happened to us too much."
This line should hit 10, and I just don't see the Raps losing by DD in an inter-conference clash like this one.

Sit this one out? Sit this one out?Blasphemy!!! What it comes down to, banans, is this - are you a Covers degenerate, or are you NOT.....a Covers degenerate? Come forward with the right answer tonight at gametime or else we're going to look at you funny from now on.
Very Funny! I already posted in my thread that I will probably add this game later, even after I said it's probably a no play. Yes, I am a Covers degenerate. Do not put me to the test. lol. Well played sir.

Interesting write-up Bator, and I get the point that the books are elevating the point spread to counter the Lakers ATS streak. Still, you were a little selective in your facts. Consider this:
Sacto played its first game w/out Bibby at POR on Feb 19th. They won that game and the next two - vs ATL and away at CHA. Since then they have lost 4 road games in a row (at ORL, MIA, ATL, and DAL), and just won again at home vs MIA.
They are tough to handicap because SAC is so much better at home than on the road.
Consider the Lakers: During this same period, LAL beat ATL by 29 points; beat PHO (in PHO) by 6 points; beat LAC by 18 points; beat SEA (at SEA) by 20 points; beat POR by 13 points (a 2.5-pt non-cover); beat MIA by 18 points; lost to POR the second game in POR by 8 pts; and just beat DAL by 4 pts.
"If you think this 5.5-point line is relatively small, believe me, it isn't."
Well, that depends, doesn't it? It is a big number against a team of the Lakers' caliber (DAL, PHO), but a very small number against a bad team. Question is how good a team is Sacto at home without Bibby?

Wrong. You actually are the one being selective. Bibby was out for the first two months of the season.
Udrih has proven to be more than capable at the point, not only as a distributer but as a prolific scorer. It's Kings or no play tonight even if you think the Lakers are worthy of the price.
