C's needed an easy win in this one, by double digits, to make a real statement. That's what I fully expected. Ray came out of the gate ready to play, as did K G, and Rondo, and Davis, and Perkins and Pierce too. These guys in the 2nd half dug deep, avoided a catastrophic loss when Odom tied it and L A next went ahead, They fought back and escaped with the SU win which I'll take, yet it got ugly.
Other than Rasheed Wallace, the team was together. I was all for Rasheed coming and giving this team some toughness, some rebounding, and some offense like those 3's he's capable of hitting. Anyone can have a bad day/game, but something about 'Sheed's play bothers me.
He doesn't seem to be close with his teammates at all. He shows no life when he's on the bench. And on the court, he simply didn't hustle, carelessly turned the ball over, and didn't do Jack. Is he old and washed up, is he an outsider from this close nit bunch, his he taking a dive???
Rasheed has to be let go. When Marbury came, actually before he even arrived, many predicted he'd be a cancer to the team. That's exactly what 'Sheed was in this game, just a team weakening, hideous, detrimental, malignant growth that spread throughout and nearly killed the C's this game. You could ship 'Sheed to China for all I care, so he can join Marbury and get some chemotherapy or something to help whatever ails this hothead.
Give me Scalabrine any minute over this 'Sheed. Right Scal? I know you're out there somewhere. 'Sheed was so blatantly abysmal tonight, I'd even take Eric Fernsten instead.
And yea, the refs/League were a farce as always. I tell people all the time when I lose and say that, it's the same when I win. The event is about making money, and not about the outcome of a meaningless silly game. For me, no blood, no foul. Make the game like the sport Rollerball as in the James Caan movie. Give 'em pads and helmets and let 'em really fight for a goal. Now that would be a game.
