I already have a 50" Samsung DLP for the living room, but you know what, that old 20" TV/DVD combo in my bedroom is just not cutting it any more. It's like going from a Lamborghini in the day to a Hyundai at night. Not cool. So after hitting this wager tonight, I'm gonna order me a nice 32" LCD so I can slowly drift to sleep every night to the wonderful sights of lions and tigers in 1,366x768 resolution. 
So which wager am I talking about?
I'm a Sacramento Kings fan. And right now, this is literally the worst Kings team there has been in the last 15 years. Gone are the days of Bibby, CWebb, Peja, Christie, Divac and the Bench Mob. We're taking it back to the Western Conference cellar days with this lineup we got out there. Our starting lineup is freaking Udrih, Kevin Martin (the only bright spot), Salmons, Mikki Moore and Hawes. Bobby Jackson is back but he's a shell of his former self. We have Shelden Williams on our squad. Shelden Williams.
The rook Jason Thompson looks like he'll be the only guy to help out until Francisco Garcia, a huge part of their rotation as a perimeter shooter, and our half-decent big man Brad Miller get back. With a four-game road trip to start the season because of a scheduled Disney on Ice show at Arco Arena, they're going to need all the help they can get.
Now, Sacramento covered on the road in their opener against Minnesota in a two-point loss. Could this be a good sign? Well, I checked out the Twolves lineup and I realized that game didn't mean anything. The Timberwolves are barely any better than the Kings this year.
So here we are. Sactown at Miami tonight in the Heat home opener. I'm assuming the public knows nothing about this year's Miami squad because the majority of them are on the Kings tonight. Yeah, the Heat had the worst record in the league last year. Yeah, they lost to the New York Knicks, the laughing stock of the NBA for the past few years. But first of all, the Knicks are a completely new-look team this season with D'Antoni at the helm and, to the surprise of most people, they actually have talent. They had talent last year, but with Isiah "The Cancer" Thomas running the show, they had no where to go.
Regardless of that, if you paid attention the NY during the season, you would've found out that they actually performed pretty well, especially against the elite squads of the NBA; it's just that they did not have the discipline or focus to actually end up winning those games. This year, they may actually sneak in as a #6, #7 or #8 seed in the Eastern Conference Playoffs. You watch.
Now, the Heat this year are an underlooked squad, which boggles my mind to by honest. DWade, 2006 Finals MVP and one of the best finishers in the league, is finally back and (relatively) healthy, Shawn Marion a.k.a. the most dynamic well-rounded player in the Association is entering a contract year, their emotional on-court leader Haslem is healthy, and you got two NBA-ready rookies in Chalmers and Beasley contributing already. If Daequan Cook can develop and Shaun Livingston actually gets himself back to 70%, they have a very potent offensive lineup out there. Now, are they going to be a force in the postseason? Probably not, but in the Eastern Conference, they at least have a chance to make it in and we all saw what went down in last season's playoffs with Boston and Atlanta.
Home opener for Miami? Extended road trip for this weak Sacramento squad who is missing two key guys to start the season? 65% on the Kings while the line has moved 1.5 points in the other direction? Underdogs being 13-5 so far in the 2008-09 NBA season?
Do you feel it?
