Lol. This is exactly what I was talking about in my playoff thread. Some of these players are not as invested in the playoffs. They have other priorities. If a team is down 0-2 or 3-1 I doubt you’ll see much effort from them in trying to claw back in a series.

It’s his sons birth , not the same as players not caring if they are down 2-0 just to go home
the point is these guys are trapped and can’t connect with loved ones like they normally can. Whether it’s a child’s birth or a sick kid, wife or relative at home (or a hundred other kinds of domestic issues) you think these guys will care more about coming back from being down from 0-2 (with the odds already stacked against them) or returning to their families. Give me a break. People, please think before you write. Don’t make me do your thinking for you.

LMAO, if there was no pandemic, this doesnt happen... At least he planned for his kid based off the NBA season unless a lot of players that have kids, they dont plan, so then they have the kid during the season so they have to miss games.. Being there for your kid being born >>> Playing in a scripted game..

Also of a team is up in a series they don’t really have to close out asap because there’s no travel involved . it’s not like having to fly back to toronto to close out the series .. a lot of teams want to close out to skip extra travel but that’s not the case anymore

No, but the urgency for the team leading the series might come from wanting to get this thing over with so they can join their families. The other thing you are discounting is the home cooking that teams down 0-2 or 3-1 going home get. If the league wants to move things along (the longer this goes the greater the chance of a team being infected with Covid) you might actually see calls going against teams that are down in a series, unless it’s a highly profitable series like Lakers v Clippers.

I'm watching this game very closely as I was devasted on their last match-up. Jazz have not beat Denver this year and are sick of it. They played their hearts out in their last h2h knowing this was a potential playoff match-up.
Utah went on to a large lead with a absolute collapse by the team (mostly Gobert missed 2-3 layups late in the game) it went to double OT in a great game when Jokic hit everything. There was some controversy with the clock not starting on a crucial tieing play for Denver they were awarded anyways.
I would like to post an angle article but I'm on vacation. This is my last bet on Utah for playoffs if they lose this game they lose the series imo, they will be 0-5 h2h and Denver has their number clearly.
Connelly being out isn't that big of a deal for me. He was awful in the last h2h and I like Mitchell handling the ball more. He is a playoff performer and needs a touch every possession.
When a teammate is absent for the birth of their child it is well received in the locker room even in a playoff situation. The team may even use it as extra motivation to get the win in celebration of their teammate and his child. In game 1 playoff situation motivation is already maximum capped though.

Conley, being out is huge. He is the most savvy playoff player on this team and has a terrific history in the playoffs. Jazz, will miss his leadership and experience.

Just because people don’t agree with you completely doesn’t mean they are wrong or that “ you have to do the thinking for them.” You can look at this two ways. And I understand your way of thinking. The other way from a player standpoint is that they have already sacrificed so much time away from their families that they don’t want to go home and have this experience feel like it’s all for nothing. I’m sure many players think that way and will be down 0-2 and say hell no I didn’t do this for nothing I came here to win a Championship. Try telling your method of thinking to Dame Lillard , to Jimmy Butler , to Paul George , the list goes on and on. You think Lebron will not care if he gets down 0-2? Maybe for the weak minded players they will just give up but plenty of players have worked extra hard for this and I’m sure they don’t give up if they are down 0-2. I love hearing opinions but opinions aren’t facts. So don’t give me “ Don’t make me do the thinking for you “ BS. I like seeing your threads and opinions and I get what you’re saying but don’t act like most of these guys aren’t working extra just to have a chance to win a Championship and as a competitor being down in a series isn’t going to stop that drive once the game starts

Yes he will be missed. But remember Denver is missing some leadership as well. Both squads have been to the dance enough to have the required experience for today. Can't wait for tip off.

Foster is regarded as a terrible Ref and quick to make calls against the Star players. His relationship with all players is pretty poor.

He has history of beef with certain players yes (Beard) but I wouldn’t necessarily call him a terrible referee. If you are familiar with how the man calls certain games, those games usually of importance, then you might not say he is “bad”...wink wink. Google his a** if you have no clue who he is. You’re welcome.

yup. And don’t say you do the thinking. Even if you did, that doesn’t mean your thinking is right/straight. You don’t know what’s in the players’ mind. All you’re saying are thoughts from your brain, not from them. You don’t know how what’s going on in the bubble.

Denver rips the heart out of Jazz again. Series over good night. Not wasting another buck on this team. Have a unit on them for the series if they somehow figure out how to beat Denver.
Can you imagine a sweep and they go 0-8 against them this year? Ridiculous to lose to a divisional team so many times in a row.
