Sure, the Heat have Lebron James, D-Wade, and Bosh. They combine for 20 all star appearances and 24 when you count the two from Ilgauskas and the one from Juwan Howard and Magloire lol. Okay, take away those 4 because they are just not good anymore, and if they played like all-stars, they'd win every game because if the Heat had an all star bigman not named bosh, they'd be the most complete team in the league...oh that and a bench.

The Mavs have 27 all-star appearances on the roster, including  two thats missing from Caron Butler. Could you imagine this team if they had Beaubois and Butler? The difference here: ALL OF THEM CONTRIBUTE.

The Mavs have 2 players off the BENCH that can score 20 any given night (Terry + Stojakovic).

The Heat played 8 players today. 3 Do a damn thing. The other 5 rotate until they find a 4th and 5th player who don't slob all over the court. Usually Anthony and someone else.

If you know anything about good basketball, naming the 9 man rotation on Dallas should be easy as hell. Especially with 4 all-stars playing up to caliber, an nba 6th man from hell, a fiesty and fearless small point guard, and the defensive twin towers.

Offense

Good luck stopping Dallas. This team is like the Lakers 04 or 05 team with GP and Malone, except that they enjoy playing with each other and not everyone just looks at them and says "Yeah, they're in it for the ring." This team has GREAT chemistry. SEVEN players can knock the open J (Everyone under 7' + Dirk), and they're SELFLESS.

There is a reason Jason Kidd is in the league. He is the most skilled player in the league. Maybe 2nd....to Dirk. He passes, he's crafty, smart in critical situations (Watch him getting both feet in before receiving a pass late last game). Marion and Stevenson provide the transition offense. Jason Terry? Peja? I don't need to explain them. Barea? Did you watch the Lakers? Are you watching him now?

That leaves Dirk...and I'm gonna put it like this: Most unguardable player in NBA history. Collison was wrapped on him like a condom last game and Dirk's like "I can't tell the difference!"

Now the Heat

81/101 points from the big 3 this last game. What happens if they have an off night? Easy..Blowout. This has been seen all year. But the Heat are a new team in the playoffs! Have you seen Dallas? It's not like they came out of nowhere. Everybody just decided to fade them. Anyways, Chalmers, Jones, and Miller can hit wide open 3s..but they can't create. What happens when LeBron and Wade are underperforming? They're not going to pass that much more because they're stars and need to keep shooting.

Fun Fact: Miami - 15.8 assists per game. The bottom 5 in that stat for the playoffs: Orlando, Miami, Indiana, New York, Portland. What can we say about all teams not named Miami there? Out first round.

Defense

People overlook Dallas' defense, and considering all Dallas really needs to do is screw 1 or 2 of the big 3 up, it makes their job MUCH easier. Chris Bosh is a bitch. A fake, wannabe tough guy who makes me cringe when his tough guy "outbursts" occur. Kendrick Perkins tried his best to talk smack to Chandler, and it ain't working. Chandler plays, and he leaves it all on the court. He and Haywood are both starting caliber, and are both centers that Miami would love to have. 3 decent or better players over 7 feet tall? Bosh has no chance.

This leaves me with the most jipped player in the NBA in terms of defensive recognition: SHAWN MARION. Did anyone forget about this guy? The only reason he hasn't received a myriad of defensive accolades is because he was the best defender of one of the worst defensive teams ever in the 2000's Suns. He's a poor mans Gerald Wallace, which is not a bad thing in terms of defense. And, uh, 2008? He's played with Wade. Mark my words here: Shawn Marion and DeShawn Stevenson will HINDER Wade and LeBron. HINDER...not stop, ladies. However, on a 3 person team, the capability of hindering Wade and James is all they need..... Especially when the twin towers will expose Bosh for what he is.

Miami Defense

Miami potentially has the best defense in the league with all those athletes. The catch? They're not playing a team led by one person in the Bulls, or a clearly aging Celtics team with NO big man, or a rising 76ers team who just couldn't handle all of Miami's firepower this year.

They are playing the most complete team in Basketball. Who has had the most success in the playoffs thus far? The Mavs. Sweeping the Lakers? Potentially knocking out the THUNDER in 5?? Portland was the only team that gave them any trouble, but anyone can see how similar those two teams are. If Portland played with fire, they could have potentially taken out the Lakers and Thunder as well.

Anyways, who leads the league in team assists this post season? Of course its the Mavs. J Kidd is a distributor. J Terry can be a distributor. Dirk is the most underrated distributor, and EVERYONE can hit the open shot. There are 7 players on that team that can go for 25 any night, and when you have a 6th man of the year and a 3pt contest winner coming off of the bench...good luck.

Dirk Nowitzki, whether you like it or not, is the most unguardable player in the NBA since 2000, and easily top 5 all time. He's taller than 99% of the players and can shoot the ball better than 99% of the players. He's that MONSTER character you create on NBA 2k11 who can do it all. He can dish the ball out of a double team because hes 7' tall. He can hit a 3 on anyone cause hes 7' tall, and despite his average athleticism, he makes his way to the basket with ease because of his skill.

Dirk cannot be guarded this series. No one on that team is capable of guarding him. Hes too big for smaller guys to get to and way too skilled for bigger or more athletic people to get to. The only person stopping Dirk, is Dirk.

Oh, and Dallas is the best team on the road. Road games are nothing to them. I don't even need to provide stats for that.

Basically, to sum up this whole thread, ask yourself:

What can't Miami do?
What can't Dallas do?

How you answer that question will give you the easy winner.

You're right about OKC being a complete team. Personally I think both these teams will take Miami.

But to say that OKC is more complete than Dallas? What kinda shit are you on lmao. What is the team thinking when Westbrook tries to go all Kobe Lebron James on everyone? He shows great spurts of the new-age Gilbert Arenas. Chemistry makes the team complete, not skill sets. And Dallas' skill set for each player is better anyway.

And how complete does a team need to be to take on a 3 man team? And why the hell would Kidd be on Wade or LeBron when Dallas' best perimeter defenders are Stevenson and Marion? J Kidd can go pick on Bibby on defense. It keeps him fresh and Stevenson and Marion are more effective. Poor argument. And by poor I mean horrible.

I did address Chandler. And the fact that you had to blow him up even more just makes the Mavs look that much better. Kidd alleyoops to him 5 times a game. He looks like hes dunking on a playskool basketball goal every time he gets one. He's going to shut down Bosh. If not its going to be Haywood. Bosh getting shut down this series is the easiest thing to spot in this  series.

Thats 1/3 the battle.

Dirk's presence alone draws double teams. No one on the Heat can guard Dirk. Once he draws double teams, the Heat play right into the hands of Dirk.

Why? From past performances? What did past performance tell us that the Lakers were going to do this year? Past playoff performance means nothing. You must not be able to adapt to change that much. Peyton Manning eventually won a ring and Dale Earnhardt eventually won a Daytona 500.

Dirks career playoff stats = Dirks career season stats. If Dirk plays like Dirk this series, he will have the most influence in the series. He will.

3 Better than average players above 7' If people attack the basket, there will be no one to kick it out to because there is already size in the paint. They don't need the extra bodies. Jason Kidd won't leave Bibby. Millers defender won't leave Miller.

Nice sentence. However, Bosh has also proven he can suck a fat dick every now and then. Especially when a bigger, better defender is on him. Chandler is bigger and more athletic than Bosh. Since they don't need his offense really, he'll be doing just fine humiliating Bosh like the fake gangsta he wants to be. If not, Haywood will. Bosh has yet to face any defender like the twin tower combo. Noah is not that good, and its Chicago's below average inside defense which is why Indiana won games against them, and why Atlanta won games against them.

1) So you meant game 4 tonight instead of game 5 of the philly series....might as well picked the philly series one cause atleast they were up against them at the end of the 2nd quarter. The Bulls were up 3 during that time they were huffing and puffing. Argument fail.

3) Are they not that good? Did they not sweep the Lakers? Are they not dominating the Thunder? The Thunder played some of the most unbeatable basketball last game, only to lose. Statement game.

I will gladly eat this if the Mavs don't take the finals. It's just hilarious seeing all the Heat nut riders when the Mavs have been doing more impressive things against better teams (Not even talking about the Lakers). I'm not even a Mavs fan. I've been a fan of Dirk, and Jason Kidd is one of the model NBA players ever. I like Dwyane Wade and Mario Chalmers is one of my favorite college players eve. This is a sports betting site. I state what I see. I've posted picks that have bombed, but I've also hit well more than 50% of my picks here including a 4 game parlay that paid 50:1 not even 2 months ago. I know what I'm talking about.

I will stand by this win or lose, but so far every heat fans argument has been hilarious.

The Heat will bitch smack the Mavs. If you think otherwise you're wrong.

Weren't the Mavs supposed to be the more complete team a few years ago when D-Wade, a declining Shaq and role players beat them in the finals previously?  I realize they also had Gary Payton, but that was a 38 year old Payton that was a shell of his former self.

Also, I don't really see how you can say what the Mavs have done is more impressive.  Equally as impressive maybe, but not more.  The Mavs beat a Lakers team with some serious chemistry issues that gave up before the start of game four.  Now, they are beating a Thunder team that panicked in game four costing them a 2-2 tie in the series.  I would take this years Celtics over either of those two teams.

I also think you are discounting the fact that Haslem and Miller are coming back into form and starting to provide some good minutes for this team.

The Heat won last night against the Bulls with D-Wade playing poorly.  Could the Mavs win if Dirk played as poorly as D-Wade played last night? 

 

Uh yes. You really don't understand how poor Chicago is on offense. Everyone is saying "This is a defensive battle, the #1 and #2 defensive teams in the league." While that may be true, you can also look at the offenses, and there are THREE people who can create their own shot in the entire game. THREE. Some people say defensive battle. I say poor excuse for a lack of better offense. Sure 3 of the top 5 best players are there, but thats it. There is 0 support for both of these teams. Those 3 people who can create their own shot and Bosh are the only reasons why any of those teams are in there.

You take out dirk, and sure Dallas wont be where they are at right now, but atleast theyll be in the playoffs in the WEST.

Would you really deny a lineup with Kidd, Terry, Marion, Chandler, and say...peja and stevenson alternating? That team would still be a nearly 50 win team in the west. They have size, good interior defenders,  and most importantly...chemistry. Then you include Dirk?

The fact that you would take Boston is an absolute joke. The entire world knows what Perkins meant to that team. I'm pretty sure in the Heat/Celtics season matchups, Perkins was the difference maker, with his +/- WAY over anyone elses. Then he leaves and Miami has their way with them.

Miller isn't coming back to form. Shooters are streaky. He'll flip like a switch at some point during the series.

Interior defense stops Miami. Chicago has none, Boston has had none, Philly is just not talented enough for them yet. Interior defense means no double teams. No double teams means everyone not named James, Wade, or Bosh has a person on them. No one else on that team will score. If D-Wade plays poorly again, he has no one else to go to. Dallas's top assist in the playoff tells me that if Dirk goes a little cold, he'll just pass the rock to the other 6 shooters on that team who can make a play.

Miami is a great team, but if they are prone to anything, it is that.
